UW will fight with the Beavs for last in the North.

What does it matter if it was Big Sky, Mountain West, WAC, or whatever?
I think Chris Petersen will be fine in a few years, but the Pac 12 neighborhood is pretty rough. There is some argument that U-Dub should be top two or three in that conference with that city and resources, but Petersen should get the benefit of the doubt after Willingham and now that a lot of info is coming out how out of control Sark was.

Go look at Petersen's record vs those other coaches.

they lacked the toughness to win close games thanks to sarks recruits.

Just like the Hawk couldn't overcome CU's losing culture.
i don't think any coach can find success at CU with its administration. saban couldn't do that well

Petersen will be fired at UW.
I think he will be good. He had 2 paths to take when he showed up... build off of what Sark had going, or scrap it and build from the ground up. He chose the 2nd method. Sark had a few talented guys but left some giant holes on the roster. I see it breaking down like this...
2015 - Rebuilding year
2016 - Showing lots of improvement but still a year away
2017 - Making a run at the conference title

I thought he was there longer than that. Wtf did Arky hire him?
Nutt had a great interview, he does interview well. He had very close ties to boosters in the state, particularly in the Little Rock area. Nutt had solid recruiting ties to Texas and Arkansas. He was also the last player that our AD, Frank Broyles, had recruited as a head coach.
So we took him and didn't even bother to return Pete Carroll's phone calls (who by all accounts desperately wanted the job and had loved his time at Arkansas as an assistant).

[quote]Not really. They went 3-5, 4-4, and 5-3 in conference before Hawk.[/quote
They were NC contenders in 2001. Once they got hit with scandals and sanctions they were still middle of the road.
Hawkins couldn't even manage that. They were trending down, and the admin are definitely a hindrance. But they were relatively successful prior to Hawkins.

I think Boise has a really solid set up for creating decent football teams.
-Their academics are considerably lower than most of the prestigious teams in the Pac12 so it is easier for them to take on players that would not otherwise qualify.
-They've been successful for awhile so players out West have heard of them, making recruiting much easier.
-They play in a horrible conference compared to themselves and they are pretty much guaranteed 9-10 wins per year due to the superior players they are recruiting. They will never be invited into the Pac12 and the Big 12 is pretty much a long shot.
-They play 1-2 "Marquee" games a year, which is pretty easy to get a fully rested team jacked up for
-Their fanbase is strong but does not have crazy over the top expectations
They remind me of a miniature version of Nebraska or Kansas State when they were taking on Jucos and Low Qualifiers

I'm not looking at the schedule at the moment, but Hawkins lost his first game as CU coach to I believe Montana State. That signaled things weren't going to go well.
