Does Anthony Davis leading the Pelicans to the playoffs prove that Kevin Love is

Over-rated?
Not trying to bash the Pelicans but they are not exactly the strongest team, but with Davis leading the way, they were able to navigate their way into the playoffs in the west.
I cannot think of a time where the Wolves with Love were seriously in playoff contention.
Everybody always made excuses for him being in the west with a weak team, but does Davis and the Pelican's success prove that a real superstar can elevate a team no matter what.

I'll save you the trouble and just say Kevin Love is not overrated.

Love is overrated as an all around player. Davis does everything better except the 3 ball(he could probably make 35% if he took enough).
However the Pels surrounding cast this season is much better than anything the Twolves marched out with Love.

I think he is. It has nothing to do with him not fitting in with Cleveland this year, I just think he is the classic example of a stat filler on a bad team.
How does he exactly make a team better.
Sure he can get hot and make some shots, but other then that?

Like rebounding?

Big guys that can shoot will always make a team better. It spreads the floor and opens up lanes for other players.

There aren't many people who think Love is the caliber of player that Davis is.

People forget how unlucky that Wolves team was last year...their expected win total was 48 and I believe it took 49 to make the playoffs.

He can rebound and is a good passer. I guess it depends on where he's rated, to determine if he's overrated. AD is obviously better than him, but he also has a better surrounding cast than Love had in Minnesota.

This too.

Such a strange way to determine if someone is overrated.

The Pelicans easily had a better roster than Kevin Love had in Minnesota.
And remember... the only reason the Pelicans made the playoffs this year is because Kevin Durant, Serge Ibaka, and Russell Westbrook all misse significant time for the Thunder this year.
The Thunder missing the playoffs was an anomaly.

The OP is just confusing to me bc it's almost like it's a slight to AD. Kevin Love was a phenomenal player in Minnesota and AD just had one of the greatest seasons in NBA history. In my opinion, it doesn't show how "overrated" Love is, but rather how incredible AD is.

That's a pretty big assumption. The Thunder being healthy affects more teams than just the Pelicans and the Thunder. There's no way to account for what would've happened if all three of those guys stay healthy.

The Pelicans roster us significantly better that what Minnesota was running out there for the last few years.
I love AD and fully believe he is better than Love, but the Pelicans success says nothing about whether or not Love is overrated.

Davis' supporting cast this year was way better than what Love had in Minnesota. Not knocking anything Davis did, just think that this is a ridiculous conclusion to come to just because one made the playoffs on the last game of the season and one didnt make the playoffs

Pelicans aren't making it. Not a big assumption at all.

^^^^^This....all day
Plus as someone pointed out AD had one of the best seasons ever, don't take anything away from what he did with an injured Pelicans roster. AD is the future MVP.

The Pelicans had 45 wins and got into the playoffs. The 7th seed had 50 wins. They could have lost 4 (or maybe even 5) extra games and still finish ahead of the Pelicans.
It's not a big assumption to make at all.
