By negotiate the tourney, I mean win it.

And Wichita State isn't an underdog anymore. Everyone is gunning for them. Doubt they make it past the Sweet 16.

Aren't they basically St. Joe's all over again?

Never like small schools - ala the Zags - when everyone has you as the favorite.

I can see Wichita going to the Elite 8.

But they aren't final 4 material.

I told you in my post.

Favorite - bullseye.

Lack of competition = favorite expectation.

Just like St. Joes - they aren't sneaking up on anyone like Wichy st. did before.

Hell look at the long history of the Zags.

Does UNLV count as a mid major?

Honestly, I think they can make it at least to the final 4 this year.

It's difficult to negotiate the NCAA tourney when your regular season consists of A. No losses and B. A conference full of cupcakes They can win one game but can they get kicked in the gut 6 consecutive times and get up every time? How can anyone say yes, they haven't been tested. They lose in Sweet 16 if I had to bet on it. This post was edited on 3/1 at 4:36 pm

+1

Also they have NO HEIGHT. They will run into some size in the tourney and have to shoot well to win. They can...but they won't.

Finally, they are no Cinderella this year. They have the big bullseye on them this year vs last year. I hope they meet my Jayhawks. Would be a massacre down low

How many teams are winning the NCAA tournament without elite NBA prospects?

Louisville won last year and we had a very poor draft class.

They have a chance like about 30 other teams. Somebody will win but it probably won't be "Oh, that was obvious".

Totally different game when you have that "1" next to your school name. A lot of really good teams are going to convince themselves they're the underdogs against Wichita State.

Can they? Yes

Will they? Maybe. But I doubt it

you're posting a lot of unprovable conjecture in this thread

will wichita state lose in the sweet 16 to some team that they were better throughout the course of the season due to the mass of variance that is college basketball? maybe.

will they lose because they have a '1' next to their name and they haven't been kicked in the gut 6 consecutive games? hell no. that's total bs.

i don't think they're the best team in the country, but they are a top 6-8 team in my opinion. so, depending on the draw, they should have a top 6-8 chance of winning

They aren't lacking height anymore than Florida Duke Michigan UVA Nova etc are. The only top teams with legitimate 7 footers are Wisconsin Kansas Arizona and maybe St Louis.

Isn't that what everyone is doing? Speculating?

Saying they're a "top 6-8 team" is conjecture as well.
