Do you associate certain NFL teams with any college programs?

Right now, there’s obviously a strong tie between the Bengals and LSU, the Dolphins and Bama. What immediately comes to mind is the 90’s Cowboys with University of Miami. Jimmy Johnson came from Miami, and during the back to back titles, they had these guys from The U:

Michael Irvin
Jimmie Jones
Russell Maryland
Bernie Kosar
Kevin Williams
Darrin Smith
Alfredo Roberts

4 of those guys started regularly, and another 2 had some moments in Big D. I believe 6 were on the 1993 team together.

Texans have had a bunch of Clemson/South Carolina players there for a while. Watson, Hopkins, Clowney, Jonathan Joseph, DJ Reader, Carlos Watkins, Marcus Gilchrist, feels like there’s others I am forgetting. The ownership/Easterby connection to the state I’m sure was part of the reason why

Haven’t had the Patriots had a weirdly high number of Rutgers players through the Belichick years?

Hurts, Smith, and Dickerson are all key cogs in their offense

Jags fans tend to be mostly Florida and Georgia fans for obvious reasons. I'm sure they've gained a lot of Clemson fans though.

At one time the Buffalo Bills had 5 Clemson players. Back in the CJ Spiller/Sammy Watkins era. Even Rex Ryan’s son Seth went to Clemson when Rex was the Bills coach.

Raiders and USC

Al Davis was once an assistant coach at USC...those were his guys.

And with the Raiders he drafted a shite ton of USC guys or traded for them.

He had a single-minded pipeline. He gave Todd Marinovich a second chance probably because he was just a USC player.

for a long time, it was the bengals and UGA

AJ Green
Geno Atkins
Clint Boling
Shawn Williams
David Pollack
Odell Thurman
Orson Charles
Robert Geathers

some not as important, but AJ and GEno being the best players on offense and defense respectively was fun

Ravens have had a ton of Bama players since Ozzie Newsome became their GM.

They currently have 3 Bama players on the roster and have drafted 12 Bama players since the franchise first began, including long-time starting LB Jarret Johnson, all-pro FB LeRon McClain, Super Bowl champ NT Terrence Cody, longtime starter LB Courtney Upshaw, all-pro LB CJ Moseley, all-pro corner Marlon Humphrey, and longtime starting center Bradley Bozeman.

In the early 2010s, I bet about half of the players for the Chiefs came from the SEC. They were being called the SEChiefs on the SEC Rant.

This has to do with the player evaluation system Belichick/Saban/Newsome started with the Browns in the 90’s. They have a very specific physical profile for every defensive position. If you look back on the rosters of those browns/ravens D’s, Patriots, LSU-Bama the DL’s, LB’s, and DB’s all have very similar physical profiles and measurables with almost no exceptions. (Height, broad jump, arm length, 10 yard speed splits)

The book Collision Low Crossers about the Jets when Rex Ryan was coach touches on it. Ryan took a similar system to NY from the Ravens.

pretty sure the Brownies acquisition of Debo Jones in October gives them six former LSU Tigers.
