1. SEC teams winning in the bowl season makes your wins over those SEC teams look better.
2. Proximity/familiarity.

I'm not a CFB nut but I pull for the local (relatively) SEC teams during bowl season.

I'm truly sorry that bothers you.

Playing successful programs helps LSU. So yes, I want our opponents to succeed. Strength of opponents still matters.

Huge difference between wanting the program to pull their weight and actively dickriding their accomplishments. I'm glad Ann Arbor is finally getting their shite together and not being such a joke, but I sure as hell won't ever root for them against anyone. frick them. I feel the same about the rest of the conference to a much lesser degree. I'm also perfectly fine with Michigan State's beat down the other day.

Big10 teams aren't united and I don't think Pac-12 teams are either.

We won the war.

I think it's just a Southern - all for one, one for all - sore-loser thing manifested in CFB.

The SEC thing has absolutely gotten in people's heads in big ten country. Don't deny it. I never used to hear about rooting for conference opponents in bowl games, and now I hear it all the time. Especially in games against SEC teams.

Well then you are built on a false sense of reality, the only reason anyone thinks ohio state is decent is because of the over inflated opinions of your shite conference.

Ohio State will always get the benefit of the doubt, regardless of how the south perceives the Big Ten. We don't need the conference to perform and have shown that for years. Winning national championships and big bowl games tends to do that for a program. Sorry if that chaps your arse, but that's how it is.

When your conference's strength has an impact on your team's ranking by the committee then, yes, conference pride matters.

I fricking hate bama. Hate them. Yet the backlash when they were ranked in the first poll, and the backlash when all the sec west teams were ranked last year, is even worse.

Once talking heads and other conferences just admit that the sec, and particularly the SEC west, plays a different level of football than everyone else it'll stop. But until then it's much more annoying to read about how awesome Iowa or Oklahoma State or Florida State is bc they're doing well in their joke of a conference

The only time I root for any other SEC team is when that team winning a football game provides a direct and tangible benefit to LSU.

If you're in the hunt for a national championship every single one of them does. It's not as impactful now with four teams getting in but there could still easily be a scenario where a team gets left out because their conference was shite.

I can understand taking your stance once you're eliminated from contention though.

Outside of financials I don't understand the point at all.

Well to be fair THATS what it is all about nowadays... I don't really root for any SEC team except LSU.. I watch football cause I love it... Hell I will watch the games today....If you don't like it..just keep rooting for ULM.. Nothing wrong with that...Unless you are pissed that you couldn't get a track scholly at a better school..........

Could be, but that didn't hurt the Big 12 this year.

I can understand this... Its the way it should be... frick Ohio St.. I respect them.. But will NEVER EVER root for them.. As Woody Hayes{you know who he is right???] said.. If I ran out of gas leaving Michign and there was twenty miles to go and had three gas stations I would push my car the whole way to Ohio.........

when it comes to being borderline for making the playoffs......it's extremely important to come from the better conference. if you don't believe that.......you're not all there.

I'm an LSU fan and I never pull for the SEC, but I also have an IQ that's higher than 50 too.

You can't be as stupid as you post. The only reason anyone thinks Ohio State is decent is because of results on the field you moron. Add in the fact that they are the only school in the last 4 years (and running) to have a top 5 recruiting each and every year other than Alabama.

I'm not even sure why I responded to such an idiotic post.

1968...The worst thing he could have ever said to inspire UM for the 1969 game....... 24-12 and the start of the "Ten Years War".. The most INTENSE ten years of any rivalry in any sport EVER.............That's when football was great...........

Or the best thing. The rivalry could use a little of that these days.

Yeah but that's only because the other one loss teams didn't win their conference. That won't always be the case.

Meh I understand it, considering how many posters on this site discuss their conference. It is just about bragging rights and what not.

I agree... But with Harbaugh at UM and Meyer at OSU it could become the BIG 2 and little 8 again........
