Oh ok, nice cop-out.

So Rodgers, Luck, Wilson, Brady, Brees...those types would be busts with Oakland too? Sure, yeah ok.

I'm personally not giving Jamarcus a pass there.

Not saying Jamarcus was better than any of these guys. I'm saying he was drafted into a dumpster fire.

Strong argument comparing Russell to HOFers.

Did we forget what happened with the #2 receiver of all time in Oakland? Oakland was an all-time great dumpster fire.

You can't deny that being in Oakland was a major factor resulting in the bust.

No way.

His work ethic is what did him. The fact that he was playing for Oakland during the final throes of the Al Davis era was simply gasoline on the dumpster fire.

Whoever said this probably won't be employed for much longer.

Winston carried that team last year.

JR was a lazy slug. Winston is the exact opposite. Winston will have a markedly better career based simply on that.

I think Jameis is a great talent on the field.I think he has a good work ethic toward football.

I wonder how he'll handle losing.A coach and teammates getting on him.

Other than the Oregon game last Season he didn't lose at FSU.

Jimbo Fisher is probably a bad example of a Coach you should respect but they seemed to have several heated exchanges on the sideline.

That doesn't fly in the Pros.

I think Winston is much closer personality-wise to Cam Newton. During college, both were: extremely overconfident, immature off-the-field, and surrounded by controversy. But at the same time, both were undeniably talented, focused during games, and simply did what it took to win games late.

I can remember one heated exchange Winston and Jimbo had, and that was at the Rose Bowl.

People make too much of players having heated exchanges with coaches once in a while. It happens with every QB. Sometimes video catches it. You can find video of Tom Brady getting into it with the offensive coordinator a couple of years back. It's football, there's a lot of emotion in the game.

The best players channel that emotion constructively. However, everyone has a bad day on the field where they allow their emotions to get the best of them.

They also had the big exchange for the Clemson game that he was suspended for

That whole thing was just another strike against his immaturity imo

I mean Jamarcus had a shot, but drank did him in. So kinda weird comparison.

What in the hell does this mean? It's like you deem it a bad thing that they were motivators/leaders on teams that both went undefeated & won titles.

FSU's O-Line and Recieving core while Winston has been there has been absolutely ridiculous. Easily both top 5 units in the country.

I'm not denying his personal responsibility for his demise, but teams with better front offices, better coaches, better teammates, and better leaders in all 3 areas can prevent dumbasses from going off the rails.

Jamarcus was not lazy in college. He was also a very efficient and well-coached player. If he had a Parcells, Belichick, Carroll, Harbaugh, etc. type of coach, he would have been very good. Best arm talent in history.

And he wasn't a bad guy or team cancer like a Ryan Leaf. In fact, Jamarcus is a very good guy and his teammates liked him a lot at LSU. He was just lazy. History is littered with lazy superstars that had coaches and teammates beat them into shape.

He needed a support circle and instead didn't have a single source of support in the organization. They gave him 60 million dollars, no coach, no teammates, and no winning attitude to play for.

One must also ponder what would have happened if he came out in the new rookie pay scale. If he didn't get 60 million, maybe he busts his arse for that second contract and we're not talking about him being a bust right now.

That isn't even CLOSE to true last year.

2013 season, yes. 2014, the OL was decent and WR's good, but neither top 5 units or close.

And to be fair, his numbers fell way off.

Just going off memory, it didn't seem like they asked Jamarcus to do as much as Jameis.

ETA: Jameis attempted 120 more passes in 2014 than Jamarcus.
