there was a 2-3 year period where going to NOLA Voodoo games was a legit fun time with very solid crowds.

I always thought going to s game would be fun. Lots of points, good seats everywhere, few commercials

I went to a KC game in 2008. It was something different for sure, but not something that kept my interest.

Never really watched it when it was on TV, but went to a few games. They are fun.

the idea of high scoring league "sounded good" at first but in reality it turned into too much scoring to keep my interest.

I would watch it if it were slowed down some and games were more in the 30 point range then 50-70 points

not sure what they could do to change that, but to keep my interest they need a true offense and defense rather then the whole team is just 10 guys total where the same 7 play both sides of the ball the whole game.

I don't want to see score, score, score, score, you went to the bathroom and missed 3 more scores lol.

I prefer to see more of a struggle to score rather then 5-10 second scoring drives most of the time.

I love indoor football. It's a great change of pace from the real thing.

I went to one AFL game.

There were 0 punts. Both teams scored a TD every time they had the ball except for two turnovers and that was the difference.

It was boring as shite.

Part of the drama in sports is not knowing what will happen. When you rig the rules to promote constant scoring, that's just as boring as a game with no scoring.

Weren't the Voodoo one of the better teams too back in the day?

Voodoo should've been the Pelicans name :(

I loved going to Georgia Force games. The owners sucked however, they hardly spent any time promoting the team even when they went to the Arena Bowl. They blamed it on Atlanta not being a arena football friendly city which is bullshite since we still have our minor league hockey and baseball teams.

The Kats were fun in Nashville. I liked that players without a shot in the NFL could make some money.

I liked NFL Europe for the same reason.

I agree with your point, but to the initial question of.. Did I like the AFL?

Yes. Especially growing up in Jax Beach. where the Jags have sucked post '03 (Our only true pro sports franchise). As bad as I wish it was the Jags, at least its was nice to have the Jacksonville Sharks and Tomcats, who were great while the Jags sucked, and going to the games was just a fun thing to do on a friday night.

I haven't lived there in 7 years now, and I haven't been to a Sharks game in two years but it was and has been always fun when i go. Its a great League for a smaller city like Jax. I think thats their market (Smaller cities). I remember the sharks always had Ex- Gator or Jags players they'd get, which drew the local fans. Idk if Birmingham has a team, but if they put a AFL team together full of ex-Bama and Auburn players, They would sell out a basketball size arena easily.

But in the end, it's honestly just another minor league for football, like every other football league outside the NFL.

They had a couple good teams, I think they made it pretty deep into the playoffs a few times. The crowds were so good they held the arena bowl at smoothie king center a couple of times IIRC

Atlanta should get an arena team so they can legitimately explain losing a 25 point lead in one half

Grew too fast. Had like 19 teams at one time

It was a shame too because I thought the product was more entertaining when the league was smaller and obscure.

Then in a short amount of time, they established af2, were on ESPN, had a Nike contract and a video game.

It became more novelty than a real league. Almost like that indie band you like, but they sell out for a one-hit wonder and before too long, the coolness and novelty wears off for everybody, even the original fans.

Back from around 2000-06, when the AFL was a real ~16 team league with a real TV contract to even sustain a huge (~32 team) af2...

Man that shite was tight. I wish the market was still there.

I used to like to go to games when Dallas had a team.

We still have an indoor team in Allen but they've been in af2, IFL, and are now in the CIF. It's hard to get attached to a team when they jump leagues like that.
