Is the Spring Hill College today, which is located Old Shell road, the same Spring Hill that played Lsu back in the 1930s?

Some of those small Liberal Arts colleges across the South that are barely surviving these days had good football teams in the 20’s and 30’s.

Definitely.
They used to play Loyola, who had football too.

Spring Hill and Sewanee were both in the SIAA with LSU back in the day.

Loyola used to play Spring Hill, Notre Dame, and LSU.
Their football stadium was on Freret and Calhoun, just a few blocks from old Tulane Stadium.
I think they gave up football after World War 2.
They gave up their entire sports program in 1972.

I had a Calculus 2 (1552?) professor at LSU who said he’d give us extra credit if we could tell him the score of the previous weekend’s Spring Hill game. The guy, Dr James Britt I think, was an insufferable little jerk so I transferred to another class with a great professor. Whenever I hear about Spring Hill, I assume everyone there is like Dr Britt.

They have one today, unless my friend's kid is lying to him.

The Jazz played some games at the Loyola field house when they were a new team.
