Because he was qb of a new York professional football team?

Had to look up his "super bowl 3 mvp". The running back had 30 carries and 121 yards and 4 rec for 40 yards with the one touchdown by the Jets. Namath was 17/28 206 yards. ...gmafb.

Joe Namath is the most incredible media anomaly in sports. The guy successfully averaged himself into legend. The most average legend I've ever seen. I can only assume this is new Yorks fault.

In 1969 that was a lot of passing yards, dumbass. Did you expect him to have Brady stats to win the award?

He's a legend because he made the NFL and the Super Bowl what it is today. The nation needed a football star and he gave it to them.

Namath could be the most overrated nfl player of all time. His stats are wretched. He's the original Paris Hilton- famous for partying.

It was just under 100 yards below his season average. Matt Snell was the MVP. He had the team's only TD and 121 rushing yards. But that wasn't happening.

Didn't he call all his own plays?

Handed it off because that was what the Colts were giving him?

He also predicted the AFL victory, which was the first time they ever beat big brother, the NFL.
