I'll give you another example:
I have a driver from about 3 years ago that I was fitted for...and every year have taken the new shite and put it on the launch monitor and every year the numbers are similar if not the same...so why the hell would I spend another $400+ when the driver I have now is spitting out solid numbers?

So, I take it you don't go into Dicks by the mall and get gear from Cashman?
I go in there and talk with him a lot. But I always get enough sweeps money at Greenbrier that I just get them out there for no out of pocket. I just hate having to drive out there for testing when I can go see Cashman and hit whatever I want.

I use to think like that. I love hitting the ball a mile, but I'd easily sacrifice 30-40yds if I could hit it straight damn near every time

I am hitting the old Cobra 427
and I'm still hitting the MP33s that I got at 18. I haven't been able to play much but am starting to play quite a bit more. I have enough sweeps money for a driver. Any suggestions?

Wait for the 915. It's gonna be here soon.

I'm not interested in buying the newest thing out. FWIW, I have yet to hit a Titleist driver worth a damn. I've had good luck with Cobra's and I hit a natural fade off the tee. I hit the piss out of rocketballz fairways but the R1 was awful when I tried it. I'd like to say I'm a big hitter, but I'm not, so I just need something that gives me a few extra yards than the 427.

That sounds like a you problem. They may not be as good as another driver for you, but Titleist drivers are solid.

I realize the wording may have sounded like a shot at Titleist, but was intended to describe my tee shots with them being not worth a damn. I know a ton of people that love them, but they just haven't ever felt right for me.

I can cut and draw mine pretty easily. It's a great driver.
People that don't like them just aren't comfortable with them at address. It's not for everybody.

I can agree with that. I think they're beautiful at address. The D3 especially. However, it isn't as pretty as my Big Bertha Alpha. It's a Picasso at address.

Med please.
When that 915 hits the shelf, It's mine. I've never been excited about a club. I got the 913 used from Stash when he decided it was too much for him. Everybody is saying the 915 is the second coming.
Prolly the only club I'll ever get excited for and buy brand new. If it's not better than the 913, which is hard to comprehend, I'll be kind of sad.

Last thing I'd say on the issue. I think it's great how people are using the first quarter of sales as a measuring stick of where the golf industry is going. Rounds are down etc etc. not one mention of the main reason rounds were down. Craziest longest winter in a while. Let's see how q2 does. Which the numbers will be out for spring soon.

Golf courses have been closing for a few years now and membership at private clubs are down. Has nothing to do with cold winter this past year.
Posted on 7/22/14 at 11:45 pm to Paul Allen
I don't know. All my friends are joining clubs. I'm ready to, just not really close enough to any that I like.

Club corp facilities are actually in the net plus in memberships for 2014. Clubs are rolling out new membership programs for the younger demographics.
The closed courses are mainly because they couldn't find the right pricing quick enough. And over spending. And too much credit with vendors.
