Truly happy for Bags. Genuinely a good guy and loved him as a player. Dude played through major shoulder pain his last few years and never complained and still put up numbers.

Bagwell deserves it; and once they let Piazza in, exclusion of "whisper steroid" candidates became completely disingenuous. Hard to exclude Bonds et al as well, once they voted in Piazza.

The most annoying thing to me remains the exclusion of Edgar Martinez. The same sportswriters who proclaim Papi as "first ballot" if not demanding his entrance by acclamation, won't vote for the superior Martinez.

I don't know what I want with Pali

A. I don't want Boston fans to get what they want

B. But I also rather not spend a year hearing them whine and play the victim that love so much to do.

Valbuena signed with the Angels tonight. A shame he's staying in the division because I genuinely wish the best for him if it has no effect on the Astros. Was a solid part of the squad the last 2 years. We can root for him to succeed when playing Texas/Seattle/Oakland

Anyways, here's to the king of the bat flip

If he could've stayed healthy last year we could've made a run. He was having his best year as an Astro.

I see 2017 hasn't magically improved Carlos' facial hair situation yet...

Even though I'm a ranger fan I grew up idolizing Bagwell. Wore number 5 in high school and mimicked his swing in batting practice

I will hopefully be in Cooperstown in July to see him. GOAT Astro

Curious who astros fans would put on the astros Mount Rushmore?

For me- Nolan, Biggio, Bagwell, and the fourth I would say would be one of - Dierker, Oswalt, Cedeno, Scott, Wagner, Berkman

The Astros’ roster at the moment is “probably the roster that we’re going to have to start the season,” Luhnow said. “We’re always open to considering ways to improve it, but right now I’d set the expectations low that there’s going to be any major changes.”

quote:

“We feel like we’ve got enough depth in the rotation that we’ll have five guys in our rotation that are going to be able to compete every night, and our offense is going to keep us in games,” Luhnow said. He added that it’s possible the Astros could use the early months of the season to evaluate their starting pitching and then either try to trade for a pitcher or “save ourselves a few prospects” if it turns out they don’t need one.

Maybe a bit of public cat and mouse with any teams Luhnow has been working with but it does give the indication that he's not on the same page with any of those teams and any trade talks are at a stand still.

Our rotation has the potential to be very good. But it relies on a whole lot of IF. If Keuchel bounces back and pitches nearer to 14 and 15. If McCullers can stay healthy. If McHugh pitches more like 2015 than he did in 16. If Morton can stabilize the back end. All of our starters have pitched to individual success at some point during their careers. But they're all surrounded by question marks going into 2017.
