Can we get a good outing from a starter? Recent performances indicate we cannot.

And Perez, a 20-year-old southpaw, has also shown promise during his work in the Serie Nacional. His stuff isn’t as polished, per Badler, but he is working on refining secondary offerings to go with a low-nineties heater. Perez isn’t considered prepared for an aggressive assignment in the upper minors, but seems to be a rather intriguing young pitcher in his own right.

ETA: It's nice to get another LHP in the system, we don't seem to have many.

If we lose this series to the Rangers, there's a pretty good chance any shot at the wildcard is done.

3.5 back with 19 to play is a pretty sizable gap to close

TEX: Perez (10-10 , 4.25 ERA)
HOU: Fister (12-11 , 4.14 ERA)

Perez ER's last 4 games 6-6-0-2

I predicted the CLE split, CHI series L, and a sweep of the Rangers this home stand. :makeithappen:

It's time to start winning series the rest of the way. No more room for error.

Gotta find a way to take 2/3 this week.

I figured they would have to go 7-6 during this stretch against 1st place teams in order to have a shot at the WC. They have to sweep.

This pitching staff is toast. Astros are not making the playoffs this year.

The offense can be fun to watch though. I'm ready for AJ to move Springer to the five hole.

Bregman
Gurriel
Altuve
Correa
Springer
Gattis
Rasmus
Gonzales
Marisnick

Gotta assume the Astros are going to go after Gurriel #2 as well. Once he turns 23 in October.

The Astros are already over their $2.197MM pool allotment, so the signing of Perez will come with a 100 percent luxury tax, thus making this a $10.3MM expenditure for Houston.

W.T.F.??? That's beyond 1:1 pick money.

I'm glad we are seeing some power from Yuli. Lineup should be OK next year with an Of signing.

How we add 3 quality starters is going to be a magic trick.

Well, knowing Luhnow... First you start with every fringe star starter who is recovering from some injury that kept them from pitching this year.

Then You search for crappy ex-Cardinal farm hands.

Then you give low-ball offers to legit FA arms.

How am I doing?

Impersonating Ryno?

On point.

LHP Cionel Perez, 5-10 170 lbs, from the land of lilliput?

:squadofmunchkins:

I'm just kidding of course, I like our guys.

Having DK and LMJ out really sucks, and even with those guys next year JL needs to find another quality starter to contend.
