I hear you on Gomez but here's the thing. A lot of teams need true center fielders. If he keeps playing like he has since the return from Corpus for the rest of the season (doesn't get hurt either), he is going to get paid in the offseason.

Do I trust him to keep playing this well? Nope. But if he does, he will definitely have several teams after him.

Being able to handle CF is a big advantage for him and Rasmus. Fowler and Cespedes both have options and are having incredible years, so they will be out there too though I think they both resign (for a lot more money). Desmond, Reddick, Franklin Gutierrez is having a really nice year. All of those guys are ideally corner OFs though

I like Desmomd. Seems as though taking the pressure off of him at SS opened up the game for him a little more.

Stick him in RF, Colby in CF, and Springer in RF.

+1

Also, I think Bregman can crosstrain in LF so that we could move Desmond to CF and bench Colby vs LHP. Marwin can play 3B, of course.

My favorite scenario to dream about is making a run at Ranger killer Joey Bats for DH and some time in LF. The amount of power in our lineup...

Marwin has played LF last year and done reasonably well

Probably just a day off to clear his mind after struggling his first few games, no big deal.

True. But Bregs is the far better athlete. I'm sure he'd be really good in left.

On Desmond. I don't think he'll hit free agency. I expect the Rangers will be quick to offer him an extension.

On Val, he's quietly been probably our best non-Altuve hitter. After a putrid April, he's hit .294/.390 11 doubles 8HR 21RBI 23 walks in 47 games. That's why he's hitting in the 2 hole now. Guy has been largely solid dating back to the 2nd half of last year.

Everything I've seen on Desmond and the Rangers indicates he will sign elsewhere. They have a big payroll and deep farm system with guys who are ready or close to ready to play.
