I suspect Santana will end up in a trade for a starting pitcher. The quality of what ends up with him in a deal depends on how high the Astros aim .

Well, duh. I mean, who wouldn't want such a pivotal piece of the puzzle? He'd make a fine Brewers shortstop.

Three things to know

• The Astros are 5-0 in Kuechel's starts this season while the Rangers are 0-4 when Detwiler starts.

• While Keuchel's 0.73 ERA leads the Majors, Detwiler's 8.66 ERA is the fifth-highest in baseball among pitchers with at least four starts.

• Keuchel has held opposing batters to a .130 batting average, the lowest in the American League while opposing hitters are batting .366 against Detwiler, the second-highest in the Majors among pitchers with at least 15 innings this year. Left-handers are batting .250 against Detwiler this season while right-handers are hitting .394 off him.

Might be good to start Villar again to help him boost that trade value. Not to mention Big Shot Bob.

This will be interesting. Last year, a pitcher rolls into MMP with those stats, he leaves with a 8IP, 11K's, 2BB, 0ER line.

This could really be a good indicator of how far the offense has become.

As for any kind of trades/moves -- I think the front office will wait and see how the team performs outside the division. I know it goes without saying, but the month of May will be huge in determining how much of a buy the Astros will be in June.

I can see a Santana, Kemp, McCullers combination pulling a good front-line starter (or subset of those 3).

ETA: I just read that MLB has revised the PTBNL rules. Any player to be used in a trade must be elgible to be traded at the time of the trade. No more recently drafted players thrown in and just wait for the 1 yr anniversary of the draft. Now they will be available to be traded the day after the WS ends. The point is... any trade that Luhnow pulls off this season, he won't be able to utilize any of those first 3 picks from this years draft as bargaining chips.

Semi-interesting read from fox sports. Talks about a lot of the same things that we are.

Given their ability to rack up injuries that may be the best thing they can do.

You have called for the DFA, trade or release of Gattis, Carter, Rasmus and Castro over the span of 3 short weeks. Funny your bitching has fell silent now that those guys are helping you win. Nice work

I don't want him to do badly. He just doesn't seem to care either way.

The other day You asked where LE and others were hiding. Wait for the astros to stumble a few games and you can bet your arse he'll be back bumping threads and pulling post history with a vengeance.

Can't say I don't blame them (LE and guys like him)... If the Astros make the playoffs and the Cubs do Cubs things, I'm pretty sure there will be a shite ton of Krissiah threads bumped.
