Rangers Dolt Dave Raymond is still salty that we fired his Kermit the Frog sounding arse.

quote:

Oh, I'm buying. I'm buying. Right now, I think that's an easy one. No. 1, this team's smoking hot. No. 2, you're gonna get Adrian Beltre back, you're gonna get Carlos Gomez back, you're gonna get Cole Hamels back for nothing. You're dealing nothing to get those guys back. Ask any team right now anywhere near a race in the division what they would offer for those three guys, and I guarantee you it'd be pretty significant. Well you're getting them back for nothing, so then if you want to add a piece or two on top of that? Forget it. Two weeks ago, three weeks ago, the Astros had won the division, they were already in the World Series and they were planning the parade. It was laughable the way people were reacting in Houston. And they were talking about burying the Rangers. 'Oh they're done. If we beat the Rangers in this series, in Houston, oh my God they're done. They'll be like, nine games out.' Well, yeah, OK, we were nine games out. Now we're what, five and a half (back)? And there's a long, long way to go, and, they just saw their ace and former Cy Young Award winner go on the disabled list for 10 days. And who knows if he comes off in 10 days."

Gray hasn't shown enough to be worth moving any major pieces for, and I doubt Martes is protected from any serious trade talks.

He may be right about getting some players back, but god help him if he believe the rag arms Texas is throwing out are going to keep pitching well all season.

If McHugh gets back to 2014/2015 form

Would be such a windfall for us. You can't expect K and McCullers to stay healthy or near healthy the whole way. McHugh's form is a prominent wildcard and could be the ultimate fulcrum down the stretch for us.

Sonny Gray would be a good piece... plus he's not a FA until 2020 I believe.

He'd easily slot in behind Keuchel and McCullers in the rotation.

Although because of the team control, he's probably more expensive than he should be.

Well, he wasn't exactly incorrect with what he said.

However, what he did NOT say was the Rangers fans were saying the exact same thing the Astros fans were saying, and worse.

But yeah, he's one bitter hack. I'd love to get some of his anti-Gomez comments from 2015/16 and beam to his twitter-sphere. He was pretty nasty with Gomez for a while.

no thank you. He's an LMJ with less talent and more potential for injury.

I'd be willing to sacrifice the "less talent" for someone less injury prone -- we need dependable, solid performing inning's eaters to accompany the offense.

The offense doesn't need 5 TOR starters... it needs solid starters to eat innings. If the Astros 3-5 continue to go only 5 innings each start, the bullpen will be non-existent in the playoffs again.

He's not even that good. Strikes out less than 7/9IP

I get it... and I was referring to LMJ as a young gun that will still need his innings monitored and may not be dependable in the heat of a playoff run.

I wouldn't necessarily say less talent... but he has to be healthy so that's a definite concern.

Dude did finish 3rd in the CY race two seasons ago at age 25, and he won 14 games with an ERA just over 3 the season before, so the talent and ability is there. He also pitched over 200 innings in both 2014 and 2015.

Just have to see how he's pitching and determine if that's the guy you're getting or the one that missed 10ish starts in 2016 and struggled with the HR ball. That's on the scouting department.

I don't like the idea of sending the type of prospects it would take to get a gray within the division.

Greinke intrigues me. It might give us a slim to no chance of re-signing Keuchel after next year, but if the DBacks paid some of his salary, I could be convinced.

I don't see Arizona selling, their offense is pretty damn good. I think they'll be in the race.

Yeah, AZ has the 3rd best record in the NL right now... doubt they are sellers at the deadline.

AZ not likely to move him during the season. They are in contention. Only one team could get him NYY

Did not realize Arizona was playing this well. Moving on from that thought then.
