I'm not saying you're wrong... Because I do think there is a lot of truth here.
But I think there's a big point getting overlooked. Hinch has to play the players on the team. Luhnow makes the personnel decisions. Hinch basically buys into the Luhnow philosophy. Sipp will continue to not get lefties out until Luhnow decides that his incredibly shitty decision to keep him on the roster is actually shitty enough to admit his mistake.
Agreed.
Look, I don't have a problem with people criticizing coaching decisions. It's the nature of the beast. I get it. There were times tonight where I was complaining and wondering why McCullers wasn't pulled earlier. Much less Sipp. I have no faith in the guy either.
It's the verbiage I take issue with here. Some of the shite people say here is downright fricking retarded.

Hinch is really hindering this team
Moronic. And that's the type of comments that I just can not let slide because it goes from 0-70 in 2 seconds. There's no grey area. Because when everything is working, no one says anything. No credit for what this team has done for you lately. They're only off to the best 20 game start in franchise history before tonight. No big deal, right? But frick that guy, I guess?
Just like any other sport, the ONLY time management is spoken about is when if it's not going the correct way. It's ONLY the players that deserve the credit. But if not, it's management.
frick that. That's a ridiculous point of view. Drives me nuts. That's like I said at first, I don't mind criticisms, but goddamn...think about HOW you're saying something.

Despite the few weak spots on the team, it really feels good to turn on the tv right before the game starts and sit down with the feeling that the Astros can actually win the game. It's been a long time since I felt like they could win each game. (No, I don't think they can win 150 games this year, I just think each and every game they *could* win.). In recent years it has been the opposite - I felt that they could lose each and every game.
Luhnow and Hinch have a lot to do with the optimistic feeling.
Yet, I think it is clear that Luhnow is very patient in letting his acquisitions prove themselves to be boon or bust. (Read that as, 'Luhnow doesn't like to admit his mistakes quickly.')

Everybody enjoys this game for a bevy of reasons. Some like to play GM, and some like to be the manager.
From reading your posts over the years, you like to sit back and comment when the dealings done. And that's fine.
You would never manage a team in game.
Some of us fancy ourselves as Nostradamus. We like to put ourselves and our opinions out there and let the chips fall as they may.
If I knew Hinch personally, I would be texting him right now and riding his arse about Sipp. I probably wouldn't be so critical of him on this board if I knew him like I do some LSU coaches, but the fact is, I just call it like I see it.
As I see it, Astros are 14-7 if Tiger Ryno, Jwho, me, or you fill out the lineup card. But if me and Jwho are making pitching decisions, we're 16-5.

Can you feel it? I can. It's the LOVE baws!

After experiencing Games 3,4, and 5 in Chicago this year, I truly feel the Astros are a team of destiny this year
Maybe it's indigestion.
IDK, but so far has been enjoyable
A piece of me is back again. Part of my childhood. The Phillies in '80, the Mets in '86, the Braves on multiple occasions, and so on.
'04 and '05 put me in the fetal position. For a man with a post grad degree, that was humbling for me in front of my kids.
But I'm ready to share it with them this time

We all are. We may be one big trade away from being ready for a big postseason, but we're really good right now.

I'm certain if we haven't already had a drink together, we will one day
I know many in your area

Ervin Santana is having quite the year. Now I know it's not gonna keep but he could help us fill out the rotation.

That's the kind of guy I would like to go after. I would like to center a package around martes and then get the best available. Screw trading Perez or Tucker. They might suck in the majors or never reach the majors, but that's a risk I'm willing to take for the upside they have. Let's get a quality major league starter on a rental and keep our big chips....minus martes.
Martes
Davis
And fillers should get a solid rental

I'm willing to trade any prospect not named Kyle Tucker for the right deal. However, Martes and Perez in the same package would have to get a damn good pitcher for that one to be ok.

Damn good and with some team Control.
