Dan is pretty wise here. It's always a good idea to remember that all of this is temporary and fleeting. It both humbles us when things are going well and emboldens us when we make mistakes.

Cowherd is the kind of idiot that thinks that just because some successful people listen to his show that he is a success and is successful because he is a part of their success.
I listen to him so if by some chance in life I wind up hosting my own radio show, I will not what to never do on a radio show. The guy will say he's humble and say oh yeah I'm wrong 25 times a day then 5 minutes later toot his horn about how smart he is because he surrounds himself with smart people and yadda yadda yadda and then go on to make a stupid prediction, be wrong, and then when someone calls him out on it, he tries to weasel out and crawfish his way into a excuse for how he's not really wrong or that it was something no one could predict when in reality over half the people who predicted, predicted correctly.
I'll never forget after Game two of last year's NBA Finals, he went on a rant talking about how the Heat had it wrapped up, LeBron was going to cement his legacy and blah blah blah. A caller said he believed the Spurs still had the series in hand and at worst would need 6 games to finish it off because they were the better team and Colin chastised this dude and basically said that the better team always wins and the better team is always the one with the best player and a bunch of other Colin bullshite. He of course changed his tune days later and acted like he knew it was all coming and that smart people knew this and yadda yadda yadda.
Really wish the radio signal for The DP Show was stronger where I lived

Patrick, for all his flaws, possess a gravitas that Cowherd will never have.
With his "hot takes", rumor teases, his uncanny knack for praising himself when gets it right and sweeping under the rug when he is wrong, Cowherd is one half of the problem at ESPN Radio (the other being Mike & Mike).
To their credit, ESPN has shifted the spotlight more to guys like SVP and Russillo (who if solo would be kind of dick) and let go guys like Gottlieb.
Beadle was the great counter to Cowherd. He hasn't been the same since.

Not surprised he responded like that. He's very open about how he left ESPN and how there's a lot of mutual distaste. And comparing him to Skip Bayless makes me
The two are night and day in terms of there shows. DP's got the best national show along with SVP and Russillo in my opinion.

Funny you mention Russillo because I'm sure he doesn't like Cowherd either.

I turn off SVP when it's just Russillo by himself. He comes off as a pompous know it all without SVP's balance.

Cowherd is a common troll, and that's all he'll ever be. He could never survive on national radio outside of ESPN, which prides itself on having stupid on-air personalities.
DP is a true pro. He managed to leave ESPN and come back even bigger. It was beneath him to even address this issue. You could tell he didn't want to talk about it, but also didn't want Cowherd to have the last word.

Cowherd and Patrick share a lot of the same audience.
So, it's an interesting thing for Cowherd to do.

Cowherd show format:
Hot overnight take, argue with imaginary foe
Set up a straw man argument, spend two segments making obvious statements debunking straw man
Interview with dull questions
Re-set straw man argument and knock it down again
National team talk (lakers/Yankees/cowboys)
End show

lol at this though. Patrick owns him, and then goes a little bit too far.
Was funny that he admitted his own gaff with Gronk on stage.

Russillo is dry
SVP is likable
So it works
But Russillo will make fun of himself and SVP can get a bit pompous as well

Russillo is a smart guy and I agree with him about 80% of the time, but he has that smug douchebag tone and look about him and he will occasionally dig his heels in and be a stubborn arse woman about some topics that he just needs to let go. SVP does remind me a bit of Dan Patrick in that he is humble and will give credit to those around him, but I notice that his show is trying to mimic some of what the DP Show has, but it just doesn't work. We don't need a bunch of random "bros" at ESPN talking about what they did at the gym in East Hartford this past weekend on there. No one gives a shite. They try to make is seem like they area frat house that has a sports show at times because they think that's what makes DP's show a success. Not the case; the Dannettes are interesting because they are distinguishable, have their own opinions and bring something different to the show. Adnan or whatever the hell that goofy little Paki bastard's name is not McLovin, Stanford Steve isn't Paulie, and no we don't care about your pick up basketball game last tuesday.
fricking ESPN.
