The Dallas Cowboys didn’t expect much from quarterback Dak Prescott. Behind what the Cowboys believed was a tremendous offensive line, with that stocked stable of running backs and a strong roster of receivers — including arguably the best receiver in the NFL, Dez Bryant — Prescott entered the season knowing he didn’t need to win any games for the Cowboys. The rookie’s only goal was to not lose the team any games — keep the defenses honest and don't turn the ball over. Prescott did his job Sunday. You can argue he went above and beyond what was expected of him — he drove the Cowboys into position to kick a game-winning field goal against the Giants, despite having only a minute and no timeouts to drive down the field.

dak cant drive the ball downfield(throwing). he will always be limited. but hes mature and plays his game well so he'll have a place in this league, but my guess is as a good enough to start in the league, but not someone any team wants to build around similar to ryan fitzpatrick

he threw 45 passes...barely over 200 yards isn't what I'd call a great debut. He was solid, but played it safe. It's obvious he's not comfortable or ready to make plays downfield.

Romo attempts 45 passes, he's going 300 plus with at least 2 TDs

...and how many drops by receivers that had the ball in their hands?

The play calling on Dallas 2nd to last possession was idiotic. They went straight 5 wide and basically said " alright young fella go sling us to victory"

They should have used Zeke and Morris and tried some sort of balance, at least a screen or two.

It was a dinnk and dunk gameplan. That is a great game plan if you have a good defense. Dallas doesnt.

why not? dak doesnt have big time arm strength. he does everything else well enough to play in the league, but not star.

as he shows more deficiencies, the cowboys will move into "replace when possible" category, not "franchise cornerstone" and im guessing he'll bounce around from team to team ala fitzpatrick.

what doesnt make sensE?

Exactly Ryno. The Giants ran straight up the gut at will late in the 4th qtr.

I think he played well enough. A ton of dropped passes, although some of those drops were because he threw a rocket several feet over 4 foot 11 Cole Beaselys head and he "almost" made the play. I don't think he was all that great at spreading the ball around either, considering the volume of passes and how such a large % of them were to like 2 people. He didn't do a good enough job of getting his best receiver involved. But with all that being said, he was FAR from going full retard like a lot of rookies in a debut. He's certainly better than any #2 that we've had in a long time. And hopefully, he'll just continue to improve as he gets comfortable. Of course I want to win, but I think he played well enough that we can at least compete with most of the NFL and definitely anyone in our division.

Dez and Beasley both dropped TD passes. Dak was fine, Zeke played like shite, Beasley was ok, but not when it counted. Dez needs to make some fricking plays.

Let me simplify for you. Prescott has a high floor but low ceiling. Will be a valuable backup option bc he will be able to win a game when called upon.

He was pretty underwhelming to me. I don't see the Cowboys winning many games with him

He played mediocre for a NFL QB. He missed some throws high and got a little lucky that some didn't get picked. He got unlucky on a few drop passes as well and Dez dropped a touchdown. I wasn't really impressed or thought he sucked. I think he is good enough to keep Dallas around .500 when Romo returns. He might play great next week or play horrible but what I saw in one game, I think he is average to below average.
