A better question is should Kobe have been called for a foul? The leg kick became an offensive foul last year.

not even close to intentional.

tell kobe to have fun watching the hawks play in the playoffs (even if it's only for 4-7 games).

So him doing something in the past, means he's guilty of doing it again in the present. Sterling logic.

not dirty. he doesn't stick his foot directly under kobe's as he landed. kobe just landed awkwardly on jones's shoe.

You guys live in lala land, if you've watched Jones play over the years(especially against Kobe) you would know and admit that he intentionally walked up under him after a god damn fade away!! But haters usually don't use logic and go full retard, again use common sense.....or try tuning in and watching a little ball every now and then, you can learn more that way

I don't think the play was inherently dirty, but it does make you wonder. Kobe was fading away. Jones was closing out. After the ball was released, Jones turns to follow the flight of the ball, but he never changes his momentum. Now, his momentum wasn't so great that he couldn't stop it. He continued to run into and under Kobe. He knows the vulnerability of a shooter in that position.

I don't think it was intentionally dirty, but it makes you wonder. He could have, and perhaps should have, shifted his momentum to make a play on the ball. Instead, he made a "play" on a vulnerable shooter. Again -- possibly not dirty, but it does make you wonder. People who raise the question shouldn't be readily dismissed.

I'm glad it happened and its a shame it didn't end his career. now if only something like this could happen to Dwight Howard.

Both Kobe and Jones were playing with the line of what should be allowed. Kobe (among many other players) routinely throws that leg out into a defender to try and draw a foul and/or create space he is not entitled to. Jones (among many other players) gets into the landing space of a player in mid-air to give them something to think about while they are in the act of shooting.

Neither one was overtly vicious IMO but both could give a shite less if the other player were hurt based on their routine use of these tactics

Yeah I'm a Kobe fan and I know it wasn't intentional. You can't expect anyone to have perfect body control for 82 games.

Only thing intentional in that video is Kobe doing that dirty kick out.

No...the worst kind of sports fan excuses a rapist because he can put a ball in a small hoop.

That said, I don't think it was intentional...why would he do it with 2 seconds left and not 3 quarters left?

Some defenders in basketball stick their feet out to mess up the shooters mentality of having to land making for a bad shot. I think this was the case here and Kobe's ankle was the casualty. Intentional, but not to injure.
