Completely agree. I will lose almost all interest in CFB if they expand the playoff.

when 5-7 teams are going to bowls because there are like 50 bowls, the season is already watered down

his argument is stupid

is he retarded? NFL has the most perfect playoff system of all sports. you have to be good to get in, theres slight room for error, just the right amount of teams get in.

easy for him to say this shite when they got in. if they were out, he'd be calling for expansion

I think you need 8 and it would be good forever. Still small compared to the number of teams in CFB. You need more teams bc it's too hard to compare teams that play completely different schools.

Yeah that Seattle team that was 8-8 getting that home field game against the Saints was the epitome of perfection.

Playoffs should be either a 2 team playoff or 8 team.

Sounds like the Saints should've won their division

CFB's playoff is its regular season, and that is what makes it so special.

If that were so than a lose would eliminate you from championship consideration. Which doesn't happen. So that's wrong

He's wrong.

At worst it is a net zero. Everyone in conference still has a chance if you give auto bids, but the OOC schedule is still important for at large bids.

Conference and division races across the country are now worth watching.

I'm for it.

Again, if CFB expands to an 8-team playoff, the regular season does NOT get watered down.

For starters, assuming the system is as suggested with 5 auto-bids for P5 conf champs + 3 at-larges, then winning your conference is extremely important. The next best thing is winning your division even if you don't win the conf title. Next on the list if you miss on both is to have a fantastic regular season elsewhere, lest you get left out.

In other words, quality OOC opponents still matter if for nothing else than a backup plan if you shite the bed in the conference race. It would also come into play with regard to seeding.

Edit: I guess I'll also go ahead and tear into Dabo because guess how subjective the NFL season is? 0. There is no subjectivity with regard to who gets in and the seeding. Your regular season record and how you performed in your division determines whether or not you're in and the seeding.

What do we got here? Teams getting left out based on subjective arguments. People can bash the NFL if you want, but it's postseason kicks CFB's postseason's arse every day of the week.

You have to decide what you value more; regular season or postseason.

I agree, I think people forget that the main benefit of having the 4 teams now isn't really about "fairness" to teams #4, #5 ect. . .

Those teams all have blemishes to the point that they should be happy enough to be in the Rose or Sugar Bowl.

The benefit of the four team playoff is mainly to be sure you don't have seasons with 3 undefeated P5 champions and only a single 1 vs 2 championship game.

Any complaints after that by teams that lost key games are interesting to talk and argue about on message boards but not really worth sacrificing anything in the regular season to avoid.

In fact, that's the way it was for many years.

This system is broken, and it has been since 2014.
