Nene is a good bit older, but I'd rather have him than Bynum right now.

The New York trade would absolutely be better for the Nugs.

The New York trade basically locks them in mediocrity for the next 5 years. Getting Bynum would actually give them a chance if he could stay healthy (which he won't because he is a the biggest vagina in the NBA). But a healthy Bynum is a guy you could build your team around. The Knick guys are role players. IMO if you trade a star, you have to take the chance of getting a star back.

PS frick Andrew Bynum

Bynum isn't ever going to be a superstar. And you don't trade away a good NBA center for a guy who might be great if he could ever stay on the court.

Even more of a reason not to make this trade.

FWIW, Bynum only has one more guaranteed season after this one. So it really wouldn't frick Denver over if it didn't work out.

Also I really don't see the Knicks offer as better than a chance at Bynum.

Bynum won't workout. He isn't serious enough right now about the game, and I think he definitely benefits from having Gasol on the same team.

Nene is just as good, if not better than Bynum RIGHT NOW. In the long run, that will probably change if Bynum can stay healthy.

If you make the trade for Bynum and it doesn't work out, you are in complete rebuilding mode.

If you make the trade with New York, you are still in rebuilding mode, but at least you have few decent pieces to build around

A chance at Bynum? Who cares?

He's NEVER healthy. Plus i have no idea why people act like he's got Shaq potential if he stays healthy.

They might as well go after Oden too

It'll just be another superstar trio like Miami.

But for a fan of the small market team who had Lebron, Gasol, or Garnett... they are just never going to come close to getting fair value in return

The Cavaliers never tried to trade LeBron. If he would have told them that he was out, then they would have sent him packing for some players (Beasley would have helped them) and the picks. Instead they got betrayed/dissed/whatever term you want to use and only got picks out of it. Pick who you want to blame in that situation.

The Gasol trade has already been discussed. It was a fair trade no matter what way you slice it.

As for the Garnett trade, the T-Wolves did receive Al Jefferson in return and he did produce - he went 21 and 11, 23 and 11, and finally 17 and 9 in his 3 seasons with the T-Wolves (third year numbers declined due to minutes played). Even Sebastian Telfair has played decently for them as well.

The reason why the Lakers and Mavericks always have consistent winners is because they have owners committed to winning. Both teams are over the cap every single season and pay the luxury tax every single year, but they are also competitive and making the playoffs every single year as well.

These small market teams can be successful if their owners want them to be successful, but none of them care enough to do so and their fans don't push them enough to be successful.

Correct me if I am wrong, but hasn't Carmelo basically said without outright saying it that he wants out of Denver? If so, the Nuggets would be foolish not to trade him at all. It's better to get something (player(s) and pick(s)) than to just watch the guy leave straight up.

If by some reason this trade does happen, I don't see the Artest for Wallace trade going down, but at least the Lakers have a back-up plan. They have one of, if not the best front office in the NBA.

I wouldn't call it fair. In the NBA it never is.

Maybe it was the only way it could get done, but I wouldn't call it fair or even.

but you will easily trade a bunch of disposable parts and a couple draft picks at the end of the first round for one of the best big men in the game

the lakers were great the half a season before they got pau... they were one player away at the time, and they got him

the key was the timing, if you make that deal and you're not "one player away", (like posey) , it sucks

also melo doesn't care about his trade value. he wants to go to new york, and he'll wait till the end of the season to if necessary. the knicks might know that, so they won't trade for him. now denver might trade with someone else, but who would for half a season of a disgruntled superstar?
