pre-La, gasol was not seen as an elite player by most people (including analysts). he was mocked about being an all-star once in memphis (getting his shot blocked by a guard didn't help). he was seen as a stat-compiler on a bad/average team who was soft as shite.

You said that the Rockets would have won a title if they traded Yao for Gasol

First off as a Kobe fan I've never said Kobe won titles by himself. No player in the history of the league has won a title by himself. Iverson came the closest in 2001. I've also never said Lebron was a bitch for going to play with D Wade. I think it was a bitch move to do it in the way he did it with the whole "The Decision" thing and also all the shite he was talking about winning 7 championships with the Heat when they hadn't even played a single game together.

As far as a Melo deal it is exactly what the Lakers need. LA needs a larger than life superstar and with Kobe admitting that his career is getting closer to an end Melo would be the perfect person to take over that role in the coming years. Also when healthy Bynum is the best center in the Western Conference and in the right offense without another dominant low post player he would put up better offensive numbers so if healthy he would be a great pick up for Denver

I think your memory is lousy

Most people thought he was a great player... I couldn't believe the Lakers stole him from Memphis for a bag of runny dog shite

Unless you're saying Shaq is gonna carry the Celtics to a championship, you just saw it last year.

Minus Perkins (knee injury) and Shaq. Celtics would have taken last year had he not got hurt.

good, not great. he only made 1 all-star game, and most thought he shouldn't have at the time

I don't think of myself as all that astute of a basketball fan... but it was clear to me that he was a franchise player

I didn't think he was a Lebron James level talent but esp given the lack of great big men right now? He was one of the most valuable possible players for a team to acquire

Why would Memphis do that?

I actually made a sarcastic Bynum for Melo post last week. It would be better than the Nuggets letting him go for nothing. if healthy (unlikely) he's a 20/10 guy.

We already know O.J. is on the trading block and Gasol is in the last year of his deal so they will probably lose him for nothing. If they pick up a couple of picks in the deal I don't see why they wouldn't do it.

Absolutely no way in hell Memphis would do that. NOBODY wants Artest or Harrington. Especially on those contracts

Am I the only one who thinks Melo to Lakers makes them worse? Kills team chemistry, kills defense, and the Lakers lose their strongest suit (outside of Kobe) of having three strong bigs. Now you weaken your 2nd rotation and have Kobe and Melo fighting over the ball.

Only thing this improves is Gasol's low post game because folks will be afraid to double and leave Melo open for the trey bien.
