ESPN's Adam Schefter reports suspended Cowboys RE Randy Gregory has again violated the league's substance-abuse policy, and is facing a longer suspension. ESPN's Ed Werder reported earlier Tuesday that Gregory was headed to drug treatment instead of Cowboys camp. Now we know why. It's a sadly unsurprising development for a player who entered the league with lots of questions about his off-the-field habits. It's probably best assumed that he won't see the field in 2016, which is devastating news for the Cowboys' wafer-thin front seven. Owner Jerry Jones could be getting awful tempted to give free agent Greg Hardy a call.

Gregory had a heart-to-heart talk with Jones during a visit to the club's Valley Ranch complex recently. Jones and coach Jason Garrett were very stern with him. Gregory vowed not to disappoint them or former NFL coach Herman Edwards, who has counseled Gregory the last few months.

"I gave my word to them when they called me and they were about to make the pick and I promised them I was going to work my arse off for them so they don't have to worry about me off the field,'' Gregory said.

What's a 2nd suspension worth?

Usually it's another 4 games I think, but who knows since he was already on suspension it might be worse

I honestly don't think anyone knows. Could be 8, could be 10, could be a year.

As far as I know that is how it goes

And I think the "1 year suspension" is technically an indefinite suspension that you can't apply for reinstatement for 1 year. So even when the reinstatement time comes, you may or may not ever get to come back (Josh Gordon did, but Justin Blackmon likely never will)

"It is not clear if Gregory failed another test or missed a test.

According to the policy rules, a missed test is treated the same as a failed test."

You failed to mention this part of the story. Either way, dude is an idiot.

Suspending your leagues best players for smoking weed is dumb. It's their right to do it, but there is no upside or benefit to doing it
