I think they did it so if 2011 happened again, there'd be a little less bitching.

If Ohio State makes it over the Big10 champ why have divisions and play a championship game?
Same reason the game was invented: for fun.

A conference title refers to a fraction of a season, leaving the door open for the top team to be a conference non-champion. It's amazing that people still don't get this.

Would be absolute horseshite to have Ohio State go instead of Penn State when Penn State beat them head to head and won the division/conference.
Ohio State has a better record and tougher schedule. Head to head is a tie breaker; the two won't be tied in the rankings.

Ohio State will be in the playoff because their record and schedule are both better than everybody else's outside the top 4 (other than WMU'a record).

Bama assuming we beat Florida, will be the #1 seed.

If Clemson wins the ACC they will be the #2 seed.

I don't see any way Ohio State falls past #3 seed. Unless the committee drops them out completely. They could very well end with wins over 3 top 10 cfp ranked teams.

#4 will be the real pickle unless we have some real chaos Saturday . I think it's going to be the big 10 champ.

The playoffs have significantly devalued the college football regular season. Alabama could have lost at home to their in state rival and still gone on to win their conference and a national title. The playoffs only benefit the traditional college football powers and will drive out any thriving mid major programs. Its terrible.

This board will be funny in the next 1-5 years when an SEC West team should get in to the playoffs, even though they did not win their division. The loudest people on here hating Ohio State will be the loudest advocates, and they won't even recognize it.

Ohio State will get in due to the number of top ten wins they have and only losing one game, at a top 10 team. The win @Oklahoma is huge with OU winning the B12. The melt next Sunday will be legendary.

Al, Clemson, WA, PSU, provided they all win, Osu is on outside looking in and needs help by having Clemson, WA lose or wi winning. Osu has 1 good win against OK 3 months ago, they barely beat 5 big ten schools and I don't want to hear about mi, they suck, they haven't legitimately beat Osu in a decade plus, I can't take them serious. They weak 10 is not the best conference from top to bottom, it puffs up the top because they middle and bottom are so bad, hey wasn't msu a power like 18 months ago, now where are they, that's the weak 10.

OSU has the best resume (prob better than Bama honestly although Bama is unquestionably #1 and much more dominant) they just had a fluky loss to PSU on the road. Pedo St has done nothing of note besides OSU win and has a 30+ pt loss and 2 losses. Even with conference championship (which is one extra game to try and prove something) to me the resumes are not equal. OSU should go regardless. This is not the same as 2011 because there are more teams involved - it is not OSU-Pedo St for the national championship.

It's still a head to head loss. That should matter.

I remember a time when Big 10 commissioner Jim Delany said that the playoff should consist of the four highest ranked conference champions, as long as they are ranked in the top 6.

Bet he won't be singing that tune anymore since he is the one who's conference might get two teams in.

It does matter. OSU has every metric in the book and 1 less overall loss, along with a win @ OU

It does matter. Without it there wouldn't be a debate.

To All you guys that want Penn St. in over Ohio St...

Answer this:
You would put Florida in over Alabama if they win Saturday?

Yes. There will be years and situation where it sucks, but if they go to 6 teams and conference champions plus 1 wild card, it will even out over a 50 year time frame. It takes the controversy out.

That is pretty far out there to say a 3-Loss Conf Champ should get in over a 1-Loss team with Bama's resume this year.

I think the controversy is what makes it great!

Wins and Losses should matter.

Bama should be in no matter the outcome Saturday
Clemson and Washington should be in if they win
Ohio State should be in based on their win/loss record and their strength of schedule.

All of the 2-Loss teams are behind those 4 and need help in my opinion
