Bama
Washington if wins Pac12
2 loss Big10 Champ
Clemson if wins ACC

So the #2 Big10 team with 1 loss is left out.

Do they vote on making it a 6 or 8 team playoff?

Yes. There should always be Power 5 champions represented.

So what you're basically saying is that the #2 vs. #3 matchup should be rendered completely useless.

See how stupid that sounds?

The committee does not take into account division leaders when they are deciding on their rankings throughout the year, so it's completely stupid for them to all of a sudden give it more credit on the last weekend.

If Ohio State makes it over the Big10 champ why have divisions and play a championship game?

To determine B10 conference champ? Oklahoma and Pittsburgh aren't in big 10 but are used by the playoff committee. It's called OOC which means out of conference

There are more games on a schedule than just conference games. They all count. How can you put more weight on a label than an actual game that was lost?

But you may lose to a team that wins the Big10. Head to head.

Ohio State isn't falling from #2 to out of the top 4. It's not happening. And if they do then the whole system needs reevaluation.

There are no rules that say conference winners get to the playoffs. I'm sure that's the preference, but it will not always shake out like that.

Good question. They are useless and done just for money by conferences.

In playoff era, they aren't necessary

Based on criteria this is how I see it if these teams were to win.

Locks:
1. Alabama (undefeated regular season SEC West Champions, Florida game does not matter.)
2/3. Big 10 Winner (Penn State vs Wisconsin)

Hopefuls:
2/3. Washington (12-1, PAC12 champion)
3. Ohio State (11-1, did not win division)
2/3/4. Clemson (12-1, ACC champion)

Need Some Help:
4. Oklahoma (2 loss Big 12 champ 9-0 in conference)
4. Oklahoma State (2 loss Big 12 champ 8-1 in conference)
4. Colorado (2 loss PAC12 champion 9-1 in conference)
4. Florida (2 loss SEC champion, 7-2 in conference)

How I see it playing out:

1. Alabama (13-0)
2. Washington (12-1)
3. Wisconsin (11-2)
4. Clemson (12-1)

Just Out:
5. Ohio State (11-1).. See how quickly their record looks less impressive eh?.. If Colorado or Va Tech wins they are in.
6. Oklahoma (10-2).. Needs an Alabama win, Penn state win, Colorado win, and Va Tech win to get in.. imo.
