College football playoff with 11 teams

I hear a whole bunch of whining and bitching as to this team should make it in the playoffs this team shouldn't. Here is my solution. Have a playoff with each of the conferences ranking them by the best team. These are the only changes that would have to be made. I will use this year's teams and dates as an example.
1) Force every conference to have a conference championship. Why they would not want to have one anyway is beyond me. If you want to have a shot at the championship, you must have a championship game.
2) Rank each conference by the highest ranked team in the championship game. ex: Alabama (1) Ohio State (2) Clemson (3); #1 SEC, #2 Big 10, #3 ACC. This will give pride to each of the conferences and a reason to cheer for them. you could even rank the entire conference as a whole, but I took the easy road and only did the two teams in the championship.
3) Take the top two unaffiliated teams and have a head to head matchup. Rank them as if they were a "conference" themselves. Notre Dame/BYU
4) Have two extra weeks of games. If the conference championship weekend was this weekend 12/3 each week could be played and still have a bye weekend before the championship game the first week of January.
This is what the 11 team playoff would look like this year. Only 7 additional games and 2 additional weekends of games. For the most part the P5 schools would only have to play one extra game, unless there is a year where a Boise St. or Notre Dame shoot up in the rankings.
This will force each team to win their conference to get into the playoff, and will allow teams that aren't in the P5 conferences to have a chance at the championship.
I used the CFP rankings as of yesterday afternoon and any teams outside of that I used their RPI.
Who/What conference would be against this format?

Potentially 5 extra games. Minimum 4. Not gonna fly.

So a 4-7 Notre Dame team would have a shot at the national championship?

you do realize these are unpaid kids in school
are you trying to kill them?

There is a potential for the P5 school teams to play 1 extra game in this format

Ha, college hoops sends kids to fricking Maui. For that matter, what about sending women's lacrosse from Morgantown, W Va to Manhattan, KS on a random Tuesday night?
Anyway, Death to the BCS did 16 teams a few years ago if you want to go this route:

Max of 6 teams
5 power 5 conference champs and the next best team
Committee picks top 2 (for byes) and 6th team.

At a minimum, they would have to play 2 more games than the current format.

Where do you get that from? The conference championship already exist (for most of the conferences) and the top 5 conferences would have a bye the first week of the playoff.

So independents automatically get a spot? Thats some horseshite

Current forget is 4 team. There are two weeks before getting down to 4 teams.
ETA: Nm. I see what you did. I was looking at it like a college BB bracket.

Any system that has Notre Dame playing in it is garbage.
Some of y'all are just hellbent on watering down college football for some stupid fairness quest.

8 Teams.
5-Power 5 Conference Champs
2-At Large
1-Mid Major
Committee selects the 2 at large and 1 mid major, ranks 8 teams accordingly.
Ex:
1. Bama (ConfC)
2. Ohio St (At Lg)
3. Clemson (ConfC
4. Washington (ConfC)
5. Michigan (At Lg)
6. Penn St(ConfC)
7. Oklahoma (ConfC)
8. Western Michigan (MidM)
1 additional game.

How is this watered down? You win your conference you are in. No more back door sneaking in like the gumps seem to have in their back pocket.

I'm not against an 8 team playoff, but I don't want the championship to fall back into the hands of a select few in the "committee". The only reason against this is if you don't win your conference, you aren't the best team in it so you shouldn't have a chance at the championship of all of college football.

Alabama in 2011. They were clearly the best team and did not win their conference.

Again, how can you say that any proposed tournament that allows 4-8 Notre Dame with a valid path to the NC isn't watering down the regular season?

All I can say to this is that some of you come up with some really fricking stupid ideas.
