no one. coach k thinks he should be a part of their celebration. it's kinda shitty, but y'all can keep sucking his dick

I guarantee you the Mercer players appreciated the gesture by K.

Was it a PR move? Yes

However, it was good for all parties.

Its not like he hung around and gave them tips. He probably just wanted to congratulate them. They played a hell of a game.

This is TH03's usual schtick. Take an awful position and argue the position to death for 10+ pages.

okay, and what other coach goes into the opposing team's locker room and makes a spectacle just to say congrats?

Damn one of the greatest coaches of all time takes 2 or 3 minutes to say good game and everyone takes a dump on him.

Normally he probably would have said it on the court to the players but they were busy going nuts.

I've had the pleasure of talking to him a couple of times. He came across as a genuine guy. Seems to cares about people so I feel that the gesture was genuine.

I just hope he asked how to defend off-ball screens because Mercer murdered Duke with them. That and being super slow help side defense.

I know what you mean, but Coach K is not some "other" coach. He is the greatest active coach in the game, and I've got a feeling Mercer players appreciated it. It's not a big deal to the casual fan, but those players certainly did.

Because he is full of himself hahah. I mean first time I have heard of him doing this in his 40 years of coaching, but he is full of himself.

Edit: probably came off wrong, I support his actions, not sure how someone can say he is full of himself.

If anything having one of the greatest coaches ever directly congratulate them boosted their morale and added to the celebration.

Classy move.

Maybe he is, but he is an idol in basketball, and as such, players appreciate things like this, even if they aren't sincere. As an outsider, I understand the negative opinions, but I can guarantee that Mercer players don't feel that way.

If I beat Tiger Woods in a golf tournament, I'm not going to mad if he walks over and congratulates me after, however arrogant he may or may not be.

jesus. I wonder if when you're this stupid it feels different to think. Like walking through mud or something.

He's a generational coach and every one of those kids would have dropped a nut to have him call their house during their recruiting periods.

He's adding to their celebration. In every sport there's a hierarchy that exists and every one is aware of it. He sits pretty close to the top of his. If you're privileged enough to be there, being gracious to those beneath you is a special thing.

I don't see the big deal.

You could take this a lot of ways, but to me when a legend like Coach K who already praised Mercer during the post-game on court interview, asks permission to go into their locker room to give his praise of their team, I say awesome gesture. It's not like Duke is playing anymore, he's giving these guys grats. And they will remember the win and him talking to them for the rest of their lives.

My post came off wrong, I was being sarcastic to those saying he is full of himself. I think it was classy and something the Mercer will players will remember forever along with the win.

I'm no K fan, but that was a nice move.
