How in the world did 3 people give Popovich first place votes this year? I guess they probably vote him every year. But this was far from his best job.

That'd be the same people who voted Lebron #1 for MVP

I would put Kerr over Bud. East is so much weaker.

Brad Stevens could easily be in that three as well. Considering what he was given, he did an unreal job.

Kidd was more deserving than Stevens, McHale too.

this.

16 game improvement in the West from last year. Capping off at 67 games. Golden State would have broken the Bulls win record had they been in the East.

my mind is blown

Houston were already considered a post season team, though. Boston was thought to be a team tanking. Stevens is a hell of a coach and deserves some votes.

This. Houston has two of the best players at their position in basketball. Boston traded away their entire team and are full of players that wouldn't start for any other team.

Houston was thought to be a worse team than last year. Had key guys out ALL year long including the league premier center for half the Season. Finished w #2 seed and won more games than prior season. In the west.

Stevens didn't even have a .500 record. In the east.

Looks like you should change careers from team scout to beat writer to get a vote then

I do a little moonlighting on the scouting side getting a vote for these postseason awards isn't anything I've ever really aimed to do.

Laugh all you want. McHale was incredible this year. If Stevens was coaching in the West, nobody even notices.

McHale got the 2 seed with tons of injuries and tons of new players to incorporate.

Dwight missed like half the year and was playing on a bad leg when he did play. Nobody would have blamed McHale is the Rockets sucked this year, considering what they lost and the injuries, but for some reason he gets very little credit from some of you people on this board for pulling out a great season.

I'm not trying to downplay McHale. But look at the Celtics roster. They don't belong in the postseason at all. Most teams would tank their way to a top 5 pick with that lineup. And he got them into the playoffs.

Its absolutely insane what he did this year.

good for Bud. seemed like everything had been pointing to Kerr recently, and I thought he'd get it. but I'm really happy Bud got recognition. now if Bud can unleash the Moose...
