If the LHSAA put their foot down against the split like they are now this would have never happened. They have governed very very weak in the past few years.
kenny henderson has his job at the mercy of the principals... they are the LHSAA
i'll be with the state legislators if they do manage to reverse the split

I shook my head when I heard the Serbia rumor. Where was that pg that reserve had from about a decade ago? Romiania?

a lot of schools on both sides of the split want the split now and and their is growing sentiment to split all sports... which will eviscerate HS sports in LA....
the funny thing is... when the split started many said it was all about 2 schools..... which outsiders thought was crazy... look now

If a full split happens, they need to eliminate any penalties for private schools recruiting kids.

there's a big showcase event in NOLA this weekend and we're hosting the 15u division(?)... our basketball coach was talking about it so i know he'll be there... wonder who else will be
if college coaches are there, surely the Findlay Preps and those who aspire to be like them will be there too...

recruiting has far less impact than hold backs....

That makes sense. But I'm saying if the privates and publics are no longer competing, there should no longer be rules prohibiting private schools from recruiting kids, since there is no need to 'level the playing field'.

if the recruiter has enough resources - the LHSAA doesn't have the power or resources to catch them.

Ok.
That's beside the point though. I'm not claiming recruiting doesn't happen now. I'm saying it should be openly allowed in the case of a full split.

project it is my understanding that when some of the privates met that was kinda how they want it with some better rules on financial aid...

Good. I hope private schools that have the resources to offer athletic scholarships take every premium athlete from the tards that initiated the split in the first place.

SMH. Get out your LA bubble. Coming from the congo doesn't compare to anything someone born in the U.S. faces. His dad sacrificed? His dad is dead so they could be here. Their family traveled as refugees through Africa without clothes on their back. The rule wasn't intended to stop this kid b/c he's 55 days older. Good for them for attempting to change it.
Extraordinary circumstances are extraordinary.

those who are uninformed said the split was about two schools... it's really about 100 who might not all be John Curtis and Evangel, but who take advantages in the rules that their immediate competition mostly can't
so sports between 15 and 19 shouldn't be so intertwined with the education system. do we go to a European model? the problem is the school boards own all of the stadiums, locker rooms, etc. except for a few in the cities.
the thing about the European model is it's based on merit. Instead of being artificially limited by school district lines, the St. Bernard 15-19 sports program (colors maroon and white) can look for the best kids they can get from all around and play their sports against the Metairie program(red and white), the Lakeview(blue and gold), Mid-City (blue and white), Algiers(purple and gold), etc.. Eventually the best of the best will move into the statewide 19-25 sports programs, the biggest one being in Baton Rouge(purple and gold), but also many smaller ones like in Lafayette(vermillion and cream), Hammond (green and gold), two in NOLA, etc.

you totally miss the point, but that is not expected considering your parochial interest in this case.

But why? Because you don't want a kid being bigger than everyone else hurting someone. Not the case here.

Did they just find out about these extraordinary circumstances in his junior year or did they know them when they allowed him to play varsity sports as an eighth grader eliminating the possibility of getting a waiver for his senior year?

If E hadn't got the hardship for him 4 years ago 3 of the principals on the exec com that voted against him - would have voted for him.
my problem with it is real simple the LHSAA is on life support now...because of parochial interests...
this could be the death knell... I just wonder how E is going to react to their new LAA district which would include Uhigh, PBS and likely riverside or EDW....
