I at least respect his perspective. Eric Byrnes is the other guy I was talking about.

I think his interviews are good; he asks specific questions and uses the time well. Decent 1 hour show.
The only other person who's really interesting on MLB is Bowden.
Casey Stern just screeches the obvious.

He is part of that old media guard. You had to be a Jew from the NE to break into that field.

John Kruk started off as a really good analyst, now I can't stand him

Russo is one of the few guys who can have a real converation with the few old timers that are still left, be either payers or especially media.
I know Jerry Izenberg has a new book out about the Golden Age of heavyweight Boxing. Russo is maybe the only, non boxing media, that could have a genuine, informative, engaging interview with him. Basically everyone else would just play the hits and ask about Ali over and over and over. Russo would probably ask about Prima Canera and Firpo and Louis, etc.
Russo, although only in his 50s,has the sports knowledge of someone twice his age because he's read so much and is so interested in history.
Although annoying and out of touch sometimes, Russo is a guy who should get more respect than he does.
