30 seconds in, and Chris Rock only names black Mets players as his favorites. Okay, maybe that's sort of fair...a black man likes black baseball players. I like white baseball players as a white man, but not because they're white. I like Kris Bryant because he's fricking awesome. I like Mike Trout because he's fricking awesome. I like Miguel Cabrera because he's fricking awesome. It seems like Chris Rock only likes the black Mets players because...they're black. They just so happen to be Mets, too.

This is making me angry....maybe I should finish the video, but it doesn't seem like he's blaming his community yet. He's blaming baseball. And that seems retarded.

Imo, they need to televise the college game more. There are mistakes, so it's interesting to watch. It moves faster than the MLB and college kids tend to give more of an effort than pro players. If college football can be as big as it is, there is no reason college baseball can't have a bigger spotlight outside of super regionals and Omaha.

I'd rather go to an AA game, as the players would probably be better.

It would be interesting to see a study on 6'3 and above professional white athletes and see what sports they play. Baseball/hockey is full of tremendous white athletes.

Got realize that his affinity for black players comes from a different era..those guys were trailblazers to some extend and I'm sure he was influenced by his father who was probably a Jackie Robinson / hank Aaron fan.

He's coming from a standpoint where old school whites did everything to keep blacks out of baseball or any other certain realm of life / competition.

Would you root for things that seemingly hate you ? I see it almost as rooting for the underdog.

you have this stance because you have a rooting interest in LSU, but if it weren't for LSU I'd never watch an inning of college baseball, its pretty shitty. The new balls have helped a little but there's no way you can tell me its a better product than MLB, that's just retarded and I don't even like the MLB.

I've been wanting to tell you to frick off for a long time... I'm tired of reading your racist crybaby shite..

Everything is the white communities' fault in your eyes.. How about you sack up and stop pushing the blame on someone else

And frick Chris Rock too, he's just as racist as you are but he tries to hide it behind humor and fails miserably... I can see straight through it...

His angle is that baseball is tired and dying because there aren't any black baseball players. Then, indirectly eludes that if there were more black players, baseball would be saved. That is stupid. It's also racist.

I know baseball is old, it's traditional and it's mostly white these days. Or is it? It seems heavily Hispanic and Dominican too. I don't think it's baseball that can't relate to black people, because the Dominican and Hispanic players do come from a black or hip hop culture. I think it's black people that can't relate to baseball.

Rock says there is old organ music at games. That's truer than true. There's also all manner of current hits being played during batting practice and during commercial breaks. He used Puig as an example. I like Puig's style, honestly, and I'm a huge baseball fan. I like that Puig brings exxcitement and a touch of celebration when something happens. But in baseball, there is a bit of an unwritten code. Is it archaic? Sure...but it's fun to watch, too. It's competetive. It's exciting.

I just think Rock is wronger than wrong here.

I grew up playing baseball, probably played more baseball games in my life than any other sport.
My kids will play baseball.

AAU and these crazy youth football leagues have a lot do with why black kids just dont play baseball anymore. It has nothing to do with white people or anything they have done.

My kids will play all of these sports.

Baseball is a sport that requires a little bit of money. Yes you can pay your $25 dollars and go play little league baseball but you get 0 coaching, especially at the younger ages. You either have to have a father who knows the game and will teach you or you have to pay to learn through lessons or an upper level team. Idk what you say you have to have some coaching to be a decent hitter or fielder and it just cost money.

Football and basketball don't require much at all. All basketball requires is showing up at a city court and find someone with a ball. Football all you need is a 5 dollar ball and an open field. Baseball requires a little more. I just don't think the impoverished areas have the extra income to get good their kids good a baseball. Why are they going to keep playing when they are playing kid pitch and strike out every time or don't know how to catch a popup when you can go to the court everyday and put up free throws until you can shot a little bit?

I think the 'baseball code' that the non informed people don't understand\like actually makes the game more fun...

When a dude shows up a pitcher or starts actin' a fool (is that black enough for you strongsafety?) you know he's gonna get plunked in his next AB

wat

If you want to go anywhere with basketball, you have to play travel ball, just like baseball.

That said, if your family can't pay for it, and you're good, someone will pay for it. But then there's nothing stopping that from happening in baseball either.

I'm just talking about getting the basics of the game. You don't need a glove and a bat. You just need to find someone with a ball.

Well in that case, poor kids could find a glove and a bat for free if they really wanted to. The thing is, they don't really want to (in the US).
