I was surprised when I went to wiki.

To make matter worse, the club lost import Chris Porter to a hamstring injury after just four games.

Pretty sure that was the Marquis Daniel team in '03 that lost to Syracuse.. Porter, Doc Robinson etc. had been gone a few years

He was one of the more powerful dunkers I've seen.

In 2000 in the pmac, porter fouled out with like 15 minutes to play. The deafening chant "where is por-ter" was awesome.

Thanks john brady for wasting that talent. Only made the sweet 16 and got embarrassed by wisonsin

That Wisconsin game was probably the most frustrating LSU basketball game ever. UCLA we never really had a chance after the ball tipped.

Porter wasted his talent for sure. Got involved with an agent his last year of college then flamed out of NBA cause of drugs. He sure was fun to watch though.

I was always surprised he didn't do better in the NBA. HE was exactly like Shaq, his only shot was a dunk.

But I guess Shaq was a bigger presence in the middle.

Porter was a tweener and those guys are a dime a dozen. He was very athletic but didn't have a true position in the NBA.

he was like a 6-6 guy who basically had to play the 4 b/c he lacked the skills/talent to play on the wing

He was so enabled by his high school that he had next to no self discipline. Sad case. Not the only star athlete with a similar story from that very high school, however.

Good for him. Kind of like Ricky Henderson. Just play until your body can't. Beats living in some backwoods Alabama town.

Sure he did. He got caught w/ drugs in Dothan, AL then missed a flight to Charlotte when he was traded and was immediately let go. He cost himself a year in the NBA at the least by being an idiot.
