Cubs offense is low lying fruit for any pitcher right now.

The ideal for me is Nola pitches 7 shut out innings and one of those Cub youngsters gets a hold of one off the bullpen and the Cubs pull one out late.

Yeah, but let's be honest, they probably only need to eek 1 run out of the Phillies' staff to get the win.

First inning and down 3-0. What the hell are they doing this weekend?

I have MLB extra innings, so I can't help you there.

This weekend has been a disaster. Getting shut down by Hamels is one thing, I can live with that. But losing they way we did Friday and Hammel just getting shelled today. Yuck. I keep telling myself we're still a year away but it doesn't make it any easier to watch.

Maddon is going to need to earn his money now. This team needs to circle the wagons and figure out how to start playing well again. I know this lineup is young, but I'm not seeing adjustments at the plate that I'd be hoping to see from a team struggling to hit.

Hitting woes bad enough but the Phillies are absolutely pounding the Cubs, and it's been our top 3 starters and nearly everyone out of the pen as well.

Just checking in to say, what the frick?!

I was hoping to once again experience the fun of being in the hunt for a playoff spot down the stretch, but the cubs may be doing the ole cubs thing and removing any doubt nice and early.

I like Maddon and am glad the Cubs have him. He's a positive, Kumbaya type guy and generally that's probably good with a young team. But maybe this embarrassing series serves as enough to get this team to focus a bit better and get off the we're o.k. shite without having to throw chairs in the locker room.

I agree, I understand the youth angle, but the lack of adjustments by both veterans and youth is a bit discouraging. This is a game of adjustments. And some of these kids may start hitting a wall too.

Soler in right looks like it's his first game out there today.

Yay! Getting shelled and staring at 4-6 post All Star Break. This team is getting worse, not better. I know we're a year or two away from serious contention, but I was hoping for a wild card chase to keep it interesting. Unless something major happens, we're watching Cubs futures league ball until next year.

Even Rizzo is scuffling and I expected with his approach he was beyond that.

Honestly, I expected .500 ball this year, which may well end up the truth. But the lack of adjustments have been disappointing. I do think these kids are the real deal, just not quite ready just yet.
