Baez with 2 bombs tonight in Iowa.
His bat is an upgrade.

I wouldn't be shocked if Russell and Baez were the middle infielders after Friday.

I wouldn't mind it either but then a gain you're talking about replacing a guy who has hit 4 of 6 years for a guy who hasn't hit at all in the majors. Doesn't mean it wouldn't be an improvement but what if Baez doesn't hit? Just shift our displeasure?

But it's to the point with Castro that it sure looks like some fans are rooting for him to fail. Goes 3 for 4 2 days ago with 2 RBI and you're still seeing "well here he comes to suck it up" type responses. Maybe a change of scenery would do him good.

Also rumors that I don't care enough to verify but Jimenez was pulled last night and teammates are "sad"

His glove is an upgrade as well. For a guy with such a high ceiling with his power potential, he's really underrated for his good defense. And Joe Maddon likes his baseball IQ, like baserunning. I think Javy will be here soon and I'm getting the feeling that Starlin is not long for Chicago anymore.

ETA: I know the Rockies got Jose Reyes in their deal, but they're believed to be flipping him as well. I doubt he has a future there past the next few days. I wonder if the Rockies then become a potential partner with the Cubs for a Castro/CarGo deal. I'm just connecting dots and the trade doesn't work straight up, but I'm just throwing it against the wall.

I still the Cubs use Castro to get a controlled pitcher.

I thought they were gonna hold him through the season let him get the coors field bump to reclaim his value then move him in the offseason.

If Castro is so terrible with no chance of turning it around can he really be considered as a trade piece for anything of value? If I'm a rival exec I'm not caring about any other year and beating the drum about 2013 and 2015.

Amd are we going to mention how poorly the Rafael soriano experiment is going or just continue to point out the obvious struggles of Castro as though that's why we are losing games like last night.

If they are going to sell on him, now is the time. He's red, scorching hot and you want to strike when teams are in need of an asset like that. They are essentially selling very high on him if they do it now.

Like I said, I don't think Castro alone gets a CarGo deal even moving in the right direction, but I was just connecting the two teams based on their apparent needs.

And let's just talk about D. J. LeMahieu...who knew?

Oh, I see...I read some stuff that the Rox were going to wait until the winter to trade CarGo and I thought that was kind of dumb.

Oh wow. Yea that makes zero sense.

It is pretty amazing the folks will say Reyes will never be traded based on that contract...and here he is traded twice.

Yes, this Rafael Soriano thing is over. Is Neil Ramirez dead?

So, we need another pitcher. I think that happens soon.

Problem with Castro right now is, with the season he's having, what the heck are you going to get for him?

Maddon said Ramirez didn't feel right in warmups.

Re: Cargo. Would love him, this lineup needs a big vet bat to carry the younguns. Problem is, where do you put him? Coghlan has been our best hitter. Can't really sit Soler.

At this point, I think we let the bats roll and add pitching.

I think if the Cubs had both CarGo and Coghlan on the roster at this point, Maddon would start CarGo 100% of the time. Coghlan would still get plenty playing time, though. He can play the infield some and corner outfield. He's still very valuable. I think the likelihood of that deal is low.

It's going to be Tyson Ross as the main priority or Ian Kennedy, if I had to call it today.

Oh, Addison.

I like the Ross/Kimbrel idea that's been floated around
