Seen a few interesting proposals where we ship a combo of Vogelbach and Fowler to an AL team (Royals, Angels, Twins), they flip prospects to Milwaukee, and Brewers send us Carlos Comez.

Gomez gives us another year of CF play at $9M.

i just type in "Cubs trade" in twitter and read whatever links i see posted.

A lot is speculation, but a deal like that kinda makes sense.

I think that was a bleed cub blue article .

Please no, Carlos Gomez is in my top 5 most hated players and quite frankly, he's really not all that good.

He had one good season where a good chunk of his WAR came from defense and then a respectable season last season. This season, he's been OK.

So what would we realistically have to give up to get price, for 2 months?

Glyeber Torres, Vogs, Almora/McKinny?

Does that get it done/too much?

I think it doesn't matter because it won't happen.

I agree. I'm honestly surprised we're mentioned with only one other team. I was fine with the Cubs and a handful of other teams looking at price, but this seems a little more serious than i thought it would get.

I don't know if this is how things like this can work, but perhaps the Cubs are throwing their name in there to drive the Dodgers toward Price and away from someone they really want.

That's a lot of conspiracy theorizing there though.

What if we can agree to get him to a deal? Avoid the offseason mess and lock him up for 7 or 8 years.

The extra half season and that guarentee worth a couple prospects???

Cubs have scouts in Detroit today to watch Price pitch.
I always love those type reports. Dude has a 2.3 ERA, what are scouts going to uncover today..?

What if we end up with two high priced left handers at the end of their productive careers? I'd much rather sign Grienke just like I would have much rather have signed Scherzer over Lester.

I don't really like giving anyone more than 5 or 6 years, so I don't like the idea of a 7 or 8 year $200MM contract. That hardly ever works out.

In other news, Javier Baez played SS for the AZL Cubs last night and went 1 for 3. Reports were that he looked really good in the field, had a great 2-strike approach, looked quiet in his stance and is in good physical condition. Hopefully he'll get back to Iowa soon.

That's why Hamels trade is ideal, mate.

How about Cubs have day off and lose ground on Pirates and Cards.

Sucks. Also, a really good move by them bringing A-ram back.

We're not catching them so it really doesn't matter.

I'd hope so, with the increased pace from bryant to schwarber i expect to have him on the bench by end of august.

sahadev sharma is having a twitter discussion about cole hamels value. He thinks it will take Soler and other pieces to get the deal done.

I'm not too keen on the idea of trading soler.

also, anchors away. Time to make a new thread for the phillies series.
