I’ve seen some things posted here since the Sid Edwards news first broke and I wrote the post about him not resigning, but rather being forced out.

Here’s some perspective from friends I have in the town.

Apparently there was a group of people who weren’t happy with Sid’s “coaching style”. During the election this November, 5 of 7 seats on the school board were going to flip and they had potential to be filled by representatives of the group of people who were displeased. As it’s been explained to me at this point, they went into the district office and demanded change be made now or eventually by the new members of the school board later in a more sweeping fashion. (That could just be big talk, who knows for real?)

The reason this is pertinent in my mind, however, is that whomever is stepping into that job should understand where the power in the school system really lies…with the bleacher creatures. The armchair quarterbacks whose claim to fame lies in their 90’s yearbooks and alcohol laden tall tales at the local taverns. Personally, it sounds like the kind of place a respected, talented coach would want to avoid. Couple that with the monster of a district they are in with Catholic, Zachary, Scotlndville, Woodlawn, and Liberty…well…it’s just not that appealing.

I understand from people out there that the job pays well, maybe better than anyone in the area, but money isn’t everything and how long will the people be tolerant of sub-standard performance? For that matter, what is considered sub-standard. After all, they just fired the longest tenured, winningest head coach in school history because they wanted to “go in a new direction.”

Also, They aren’t exactly pumping talent out there into the college ranks. (Yes, I know that some have left, but as I understand those were mostly legacy kids to private programs.)

All this makes Central seem less than appealing to a “big name” coach in my mind.

Central wanting to tear down an outsider and suck off its own. You don’t say? Been that way at least 45 years.

Central wouldn't have made the playoffs even if they had the full 32 teams.

Who was the coach that was caught sleeping in a teacher's classroom over the summer?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t they choose to move to the Ascension/LP district so that they could get away from playing Catholic and Zachary? That’s how I understood it to be anyway. Did it under the cover of darkness.

I would think that Central just wanted to ease the front end of the schedule considering the new forced district as well. Just makes sense

Coaches don't make a lot of money. Especially assistants. I could see this happening.

People take Central way too seriously
They ran off a baseball coach that won back to back titles

I have no problem replacing a coach. I have a problem with the way it’s done, and the politics that have always made Central what Central really is. I lived there. I know how things work there.

they moved because it made sense travel wise . shorter distance to ap schools then to the ebr schools. having kids on a school bus late after basketball games on a school night sucks

So, live oak to EA is a shorter trip than Live Oak to Zachary? Please do that math for me…

I’m sure it had absolutely nothing to do with those schools being a combined 0-90 over the last ten years vs Catholic and Zachary…

targeting a standing head coach in the area. The job has not been posted on website yet. The big time area coach has to turn the job down before it gets officially posted. From the outside it seems as though Central either has a plan or they have no plan. How many people are involved in the "search"?

Or you could argue that it was the way it was because Catholic and Zachary were scared to play each other during the regular season.

Now do this math. How long does it take for an AP school to get to Memorial on Friday evening? It's A HELL of a lot easier to get to Live Oak for them, and vice versa for Live Oak.

looking at a map it kind of makes sense (West and East BR)... but it also made sense before (North and South BR)

Central . All about politics and maneuvering . Zachary used to be the same way until they gave brew the keys to the program . Helps to have an adult in the room. Central has too many people who think they are more important than they really are . I know it hurts them getting run over by Zachary . Central is the auburn to Zachary’s bama and will always be .
