I always liked Broadway. I just thought Gautier was the right man for the job. Still think he was.

I think we definitely beat North Texas with Gautier.

Meh. Agree to disagree. You said some pretty harsh things in those arguments. I followed him from his recruiting days.

Les Miles doesn't put up the shenanigans. He would have kicked Aaron Hernandez off the team after his second murder, at most.

It's going to be funny when Hud leaves your' arse for Mississippi State soon.

Agree. Broadway played alright in that game but I don't think we stall for an entire half with Gautier back there.

Also, I say harsh things to everyone but only mean about 30% of it. No hard feelings.

They beat North Texas by not giving up 520 yards of offense. Defense fell apart in the 2nd half of that game.

Our offense kept going 3 and out that game, our defense was on the field too much. They sucked but they should have been helped out by the offense more.

HUD will be there for another two or three years. It's been rumored that if they can get his base salary up to a million that he would not leave. Right now he's at I believe $750 and with incentives, it's a little over a million. Also his wife loves Lafayette and really doesn't want to leave.

I dont think he goes anywhere. There isnt a coach in the ncaa that embodies the spirit of a town like hud does of lafayette.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hudspeth stays there a while. He isn't getting a big time job. He could get a Miss State, but he's not really viewed as a miracle worker. Bustle didn't leave an empty cupboard and most of his teams were 500ish (they fell apart his last year). His recruiting methodology is what ULL should have been doing for years...but it isn't going to work at the AQ schools or even at a lot of non AQ schools. His next goal should be to boss than sunbelt conference and beat a SEC team.

Hud got burned a little this year when some of his recruits didn't qualify; but last year, the borderlines he took did qualify. Taking the unqualified guys at signing day is a way they can use to get much better talent into their program. And they may get to prop some of them and bring them in the next year.

biggest thing that has helped UL athletics: Ray Authement retiring.

I'll agree with that 100%. Him and Ray Blanco leaving was a full-fledged blessing for the athletic program.

Ray Authement couldn't give a shite about athletics, in fact, at times it appeared he intentionally sabotaged some efforts. FACT: The idea of starting of a booster like the RCAF was proposed way back in the 80's and several times afterwards, and he shot that down EVERY, SINGLE, TIME.

Meanwhile, Ray Blanco pulled the hire Jerry Baldwin crap purely for political reasons to help his wife's political career.

Yep. Nelson Shexnayder was on the road to interview Larry Blakeney when they called him and told him "Don't bother, we hired a coach." And Baldwin turns around and sues Nelson claiming racism. Which is fricking laughable for anyone that knows anything about the man.

6-27 overall record (1999-2001)
2-3 vs FCS

I must say that this program has come a loooong way since then.
