The triangle also puts the ball in your best players hand in isolated situations. Its the best offense IMO when you have the team for it

it is a superior offense to the spread pick and roll crap that 90% of the NBA runs now.

theoretically, but it's basically impossible to put together (and not really possible today)

yeah, if you could put together a team of noah/boogie and harden, they'd tear shite up on offense (they'd still shoot 3s, though)

and the spurs in the finals last year beat that lakers team....badly

Are you comparing Phil jacksons triangle offense to Byron Scotts offense?

Yes because spreading the floor and running the pick and roll has never been fundamental basketball.

It is basically impossible because there aren't enough great back to the basket scorers. The only player today who even approaches the skill level of prime Pau or Kobe is Lopez and he's almost never healthy/has been stuck on shite teams

The 09 Lakers would kill last years Spurs

It is a hot & cold offense that stunts 1 on 1 scoring ability.

finding open teammates is a "hot and cold" offense?

How the hell does he still keep getting head coaching jobs?

He was hired because they knew he would stink it up and increase draft pick odds to rebuild for the next team.

You can't lose on purpose but you can sure hire a guy who everyone loves who sucks at coaching to make sure you lose.

In terms of being a skilled back to the basket scorer yes. He's not quite as good as prime kobe but he's at least on the level, no else is.

What you are saying doesn't even make sense. The pick and roll is used within different offenses.

Teams spread the floor to open up space in the lane to drive to the basket.

Spreading the floor also helps guys post up because it creates more space for the big man to work down low.

Creating space and the pick and roll are fundamental ideas in basketball. It's not an offense itself.

When they are standing at the 3 point line? Yes.
When they only get open because the pick and roll wasn't defended correctly? Yes

You need both. Also the team work required in a motion offense that gets the ball inside>>>>>>The team work in a pick and roll with stationary shooters in the corners.

with the pnr and ball movement, there will always be open teammates. see: the spurs in the finals

they were running calculus and the 09 lakers were running pre-algebra

but you won't have 1-on-1 matchups often in that case

and sitting in the corners is just playing smart. a solid (we're not even talking about good) corner shooter will hit 40% of his 3s. a SUPER DUPER ELITE post player (shaq's best seasons) will hit about 57% of his short shots

over 100 shots, the mediocre 3 point player will have 120 points

over 100 shots, the most dominating post guy will have 114 points

You seem to think like the Houston GM. That line of thinking got them beat by one of the best mid range shooting teams in league. I personally believe you play to your strength. Nothing in scheme is inherently superior to the other.

you sound like byron scott

i shall reply with the same response in the article:

quote:

Seven of the past eight NBA champions led all playoff teams in 3-point attempts and makes.

I personally believe you play to your strength

there is a time and a place for midrange shooting, but it simply is not as efficient as shooting 3s

it's going to be really tough to get a midrange player to 57% from midrange. look at the breakdown above
