Let's cap it at 16 schools. Take into account the "big three" sports and geography. Geography doesn't mean you can't have great distances, but for the sake of the discussion and an example, you wouldn't want:

-Miami (Fl)
-Boston College
-University of Washington
-Hawaii
-University of Iowa,

etc....

They are the reason the scheduling in the SEC is such a joke.

You got quality in all major sports, its 9 game football, 8 series for baseball, you have great Olympic Sports. 4 states that border each other and the fans hate each other. You have natural and location rivals as well as historic rivals. Have major metro areas, so championships are at big arenas and can be rotated.

I mean, I guess. I don't think it's unreasonable to want to maintain a 100+ year old rivalry. The rivalry's, and amateurism, and the feel that you are playing for your alma matter is what makes college football great. Who you play is part of that.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the way the schedule is now, save for the fact that you dont get to make away trips to cross divisional schools very often. So other than the fact that schools in the west don't get to see Gainsville and Columbia it's all just complaining to complain.

You only play certain teams from the other division once every 7 years

The SEC is the only conference in college football doing that. It's stupid.

With my conference my last week of the year for all sports would be this...

Texas aTm
LSU Arkansas
OU oSu
Houston Rice
SMU Baylor

The interest generated by playing Natural/Historic rivals would be great especially within the conference.

The FB Rotation would be

Dallas
NOLA
Houston
San Antonio

Basketball and Baseball is...
Dallas
Houston
Nola
OKC
N Little Rock (hosted a NCAA Regional)
San Antonio (if you wanted to)

Very easy drives for all teams and fans of teams for post season play.
