Here's what the Milwaukee owners had communicated to coach Larry Drew about negotiating a deal for his job w/ Jason Kidd: Nothing.

Lost in this is violation of coach's code: You don't pursue job belonging to someone else. Humiliating end for Larry Drew. Kidd's shameless.

Rick Carlisle runs coach's association, takes issues seriously. Ultimate coach's coach. You can bet Kidd'll feel disgust within fraternity.

I think he has more job security in Milwaukee considering one of his BFFs is in the management there, even though the coaching job will be harder due to fewer resources being available as far as assistants and payroll.

The Brooklyn roster is pretty much set in stone due to the various moves King did at Prokorov's behest, so any problems there are most likely fixed through a new coach vs. any other type of move.

@ZachLowe_NBA Larry Sanders will not be sending any marijuana to Brooklyn in the deal, I'm told.

I don't think Kidd gives a shite because he hasn't paid any dues as a coach and has had everything handed to him so far.

He never had to be an assistant, he got to beg the Brooklyn front office for highly paid assistants like Lawrence Frank and then exile them about 6 weeks into the season, etc.

He better hope that his time in Milwaukee goes well because he sure won't get hired on as an assistant under anyone after this.

It really depends on how you look at the situation as to which is better:

The Nets you have an owner willing to spend obscene amounts of money to win, its in Brooklyn, and you can attract Free Agents. However, their roster and cap situation is frickED for the next several years. And the pressure will be much greater.

Milwaukee you've got some nice young talent, you're friends with the owner, and you have very little pressure to win for awhile. However...you're in Milwaukee. You're not attracting any major FAs. Ever.

In the short term, Milwaukee is a more secure job than Brooklyn. I still think Kidd screwed himself in the long term.

The way in which Kidd ended up in Milwaukee burned a ton of bridges. He's unlikely to get top-flight assistants under him, even if Milwaukee is paying big bucks, nor is he likely to get a job elsewhere if he gets fired from Milwaukee.

He better hope that Milwaukee shows such a vast improvement under him that teams will see a demand for him. And I seriously doubt it will given his bush-league tenure in Brooklyn.

Kidd talked to his BFF in the Bucks' front office, got himself a guarantee of certain responsibilities if he were to end up there, then went into the Nets' offices to demand those kinds of responsibilities from them in order to stay.

The Nets' response was "Have fun in Milwaukee."

kidd sold himself as a HC without any experience by offering a low salary to help out with the pitch

when kerr and fisher got bigger deals just 1 year later, he threw a bitch fit

this former pg v. former pg crime needs to STOP!

Still doesn't change the fact that he burned a lot of bridges in the coaching community over this.

He better hope Milwaukee works out for him because, otherwise, I think he's done as a pro coach.

If he can't win in Milwaukee, few teams will ever consider hiring him as a head coach.

If he's not a head coach, he won't be an assistant coach anywhere because he has no experience as one and just pissed off pretty much every coach in the business by taking Larry Drew's job while Drew was still under contract.

FIFY

Kidd didn't do that great with a team loaded with proven veterans. Now you're expecting him to help develop very young talent?

Yeah. Essentially, Kidd tried to make a power play and got slapped down hard. Its pretty funny. I'm sure its not funny to Drew though.

As a consolation, here's Jason Kidd in a bathtub with Tony Parker:

I know you're like 16 or something and don't understand how these things work, and yes, it is a business and there are no "rules" for this sort of thing...

Coaching is a fraternity. There are certain ways to act among your peers. This isn't one of them, and it WILL have a great effect on his career. He's going to have a really hard time getting the best assistants, for one.
