In a sport with a lot of laziness, Harper's extreme effort is a huge contrast.

I don't particularly like his personality off the field, but I respect the hell out of the guy. He tries his arse off every night and clearly wants to win more than anyone in the park.

Would you rather him beat the shite out of his wife? Would that make him more likeable in your opinion?

Watt comes off as extremely goofy, almost to a nerd style of goofy. Seems like a good guy, though.

Watt is a douche. Great player, but a douche.

Bryce Harper was wrong in his comments about baseball being tired. But I don't mind him so much because he plays the game harder than anybody else in the league right now and I respect that.

How was he wrong? I mean I don't necessarily agree with him, I think if someone wants to pimp a home run then the pitcher should be able to peg the guy next time around if he wants to.

Regardless, Harper/Trout are baseball. They're the two best players in the game and are going to be here for awhile. They're opinions matter, regardless of if we agree with them.

That's a fricking awesome hat.

God I really wish I didn't hate his gay arse team. Or have to watch my team play against him so much.

That's so ridiculous, IMO. A batter celebrates a good play and the pitcher gets his sensitive feelings hurt, so he hits him with a 95mph fastball next time around?

Depends on what the batter does. If he hot dogs around the bases while intentionally targeting and taunting the pitcher going around the bases, then frick yeah the pitcher should pop him next time. That's baseball IMO.

If he just bat flips and jogs slowly to soak it in, that's different.

I mean it's worked for a long while hasn't it?

Like I said, I'm not totally for it. It's bullshite if you go head hunting, but putting one in someone's back isn't going to kill them or ruin their career. I also don't think it needs to be done in every little circumstance. It adds some flavor to the game, all of it does. The pimping and the beaning. It works both ways.

However, as a Rangers fan I hope whoever is on the mound the first time we play Toronto fricking beans Bautista with a FB right in the back.

I don't think it's a big deal if it's like one time. But if a player is habitually doing it or habitually talking shite, then it is called for IMO.

A lot of people forget that these guys have histories with each other most of the time from coming up through the farm systems.

Agreed, there are circumstances where I think allows it.

Well don't show up the pitcher.

You would be ok with the equivalent in the NFL?

WR jukes a DB and scores a TD. Celebrates in the endzone.

Next time out, the DB blasts the WR at a dead sprint after the whistle blows.

"Shouldn't have showboated."

It's a shame pitchers are so sensitive.

Lol that is totally different and has never been a part of the NFL at any time.

This has been a part of baseball FOR YEARS.

Like I said, a 95 mph fastball to the back isn't going to hurt anything. Targeting someone in football after the whistle can literally break someone's back/neck or kill them.

The hitter also has a chance to get out of the way, in your comparison that offensive player has NO shot to avoid what happens.

It's pretty funny.

"He showboated his HR and although I'm a grown arse man, that hurt my damn feelings. I'm going to hit him with a 95mph fastball next time I see him."

The fact that it's a custom makes it ok? "Because that's the way it's always been" is such terrible reasoning.

And if you miss and hit him in the hand or head? Oh well, part of the game.

The WR doesn't have a chance to get out of the way?

ETA: Pitchers should toughen the frick up and get the batter out next time.

And you only have yourself to blame. Maybe if you didn't hang it too high the dude wouldn't have knocked the stitching off it.

Why don't you go watch a different sport? It's apparent you aren't happy with how baseball works and has worked for the last forty years. It's not like I'm one idiot who thinks this way and I'm in a huge minority. The players, pitchers obviously, think this themselves also.

Whenever they stop thinking that way then I'll be on board, but since they're the highest paid players in the league and are the most valuable asset on a team, I don't see that changing any time soon.
