re: BREAKING: Anderson Silva Tests Positive For Steroids Prior To UFC 183

Just this past October... less than 4 months ago... Silva said:
quote:
"When the guys test for the steroids, it's bad because this is a problem. It's bad not just for the UFC, but for the sport."
Silva believes PED users don't typically dabble in them and that offenders should be removed from the sport.
"When the guys test for the steroids, (they should have) no more fights," Silva said. "When you use the steroids, you use them for a long time. When you use the steroids for a long time, you have a problem. It's a drug and it's not good for the sport."

I always expect Nick to piss hot for weed. I never in a million years expected Silva to piss hot.

Georges St-Pierre is now the true goat.
GSP is elite but I was sick of his 25 minute lay and pray sessions. Way to talented a fighter to play it safe every single fight after the Serra TKO.

I have no reason to expect Silva to. He's been tested probably 20 times without failing one.

All I know is McGOAT will never be caught on PEDs unless they analyze his DNA and realize how superior it is.

quote:He didn't play it safe right after the Serra loss. He beat Koscheck, submitted Hughes, kicked Serra's arse in the rematch, beat the hell out of Jon Fitch who amazingly survived all 5 rounds, TKO'd BJ Penn, had a great fight against Alves, was active in trying to win by submission against Dan Hardy, spent much of the fight against Koscheck on his feet and broke Koscheck's eye socket, I forget what happened in the Jake Shields fight... but I don't think it was lay-n-pray, his fight against Carlos Condit was entertaining and was fight of the night, the Nick Diaz fight I don't really remember, and the Hendricks fight I don't really remember either I just remember it being really close.

Best comment of the day on this was the first one from the ESPN article

like GSP wasn't the biggest juicer in MMA history. Diaz even called him out on it, Google it.

GSP was adamant in trying to get much stricter testing in the UFC. He wanted an independent company to randomly test throughout the year.
He's pushed for that for years. One of his gripes with the UFC was that they were not taking the steroid problem seriously enough.
Diaz doesn't know anymore than any of us. He's just talking shite, per usual.

So was Silva, he just said people needed to be banned for life if they tested positive. There is a reason GSP quit when he did, you don't just walk away from over 4 million a fight. Think about it for a second.

GSP is the undisputed goat now.

How does steroids have anything to do with GSP retiring?
He never tested positive for anything ever. It's not like he quit before he could get tested.
I'm not sure what you are trying to imply.

He's probably a butthurt BJ or Diaz fan.

Shouldn't he have to forfeit the win?

Sean Sherk beat Hermes Franca at UFC 73 and they both failed drug tests. The W stayed.
Edit: Of course that was in CA and not Vegas.

I am saying he quit before he really got tested, the old test were not even real. Listen to the Diaz interview before he fought GSP, he said they didn't test them.

Not sure why he would use a steroid that's also used in some extent for breast cancer patients
