Have I overlooked the thread?

We've got an American in the lead group. He's got a shot. Let's bring it home guys!

Marathon running has got to be one of the most mentally challenging things in the sports world. The furthest I've ran is 10 miles and I thought I was going to fall over dead at the end of it. Can't even fathom adding another 16.2 miles to that.

Looks liek Kirui is going to take it. He has a 12 second advantage over Rupp with 2 miles to go.

The actual race itself isn't that terrible. It's the training that sucks arse.

Rupp made a tactical error that cost him the race. Kirui pulled away with a few miles to go but never widened the gap. Rupp stayed with him stride for stride and even narrowed the gap to 7 seconds at the end. He could have matched him but thought Kirui was going to burn himself out.

Oh well.

Next year.

Kirui dropped a 4:27 for mile 24. I would've thought he'd burn out too.

Do they hand out those 26.2 stickers at the finish line?

The training is actually the fun part. I guess it depends on how you look at distance races

I liked training way more than race day. Getting the shits before the start and completely locking up with cramps at mile 22 was not fun at all. I got stupid the night before the race and went out with my training group at a new restaurant that I had never tried before. The chicken pasta wasn't a good choice.

As far as training goes, TLT runs are not fun. Marathon racing, when compared to middle distances, is fun. All in all I think 1/2's are the most fun.

Galen Rupp had a great race today.
