Bobby Bowden 30 for 30

Why hasn't there been a 30 for 30 on Bowden? The road to the NC went directly through Tallahassee for over 10 years. I still don't consider his run in the 90s a dynasty, but it is still impressive. More so, seems like there should be a 30 for 30 about the impact the state of Florida has had on not only college football, but football in general.

Maybe on the entire state of Florida. But I don't think Bowden/FSU deserve a documentary specifically on them.

I would think a documentary on the Bowden family coaching tree could be interesting
You got Daddy and his run
Terry at Auburn, UNA, and now reclamation in the MAC
Tommy, from Tulane to being run out at Clemson
That is a good documentary I would think.
The coaching tree off that Richt, Stockstill, Amato, RichRod, and etc.

From 1987 to 2000 they finished each season in the top 5. That will never happen again.....

What is Alabama's run right now? I guess they weren't top 5 when they beat Michigan St in the Citrus Bowl or lost to OU in Sugar though.

Correct.... you can say what Bama is doing right now is better because all those titles speak for themselves., but that FSU run was unreal......

A good friend used to ref ACC games back when Pappa Bowden was on his run & he said Bowden was one of the most profane HC's he ever ran across. In & of itself, all football coaches curse, but Bowden's persona was always that of a sweet loving grand paw type. Friend said Bowden would walk up to him on the sidelines, look straight ahead out on the field, cross his arms across his chest, and unload on him. Others, too of course.

You should hear Coach K in games, he is definitely from Chicago.

I'd be down for a Sunshine State football documentary. I know The U has been showcased, but those battles between FSU and UF were epic too. LSU fans always complain about losing to Bama in the rematch (and rightfully so), but how about in '96 when FSU beat Florida in Doak in a 1-2 matchup (I think)? They had a rematch in the Sugar Bowl and the Gators trashed the Noles.

I wish they'd do one for Bob Knight. Would probably get some fantastic stories from former players and staff members.

I don't see how you couldn't. From 1992-2000, FSU won 2 national titles, the ACC every year, finished in the top 5 every year, and went 99-11-1 overall (.900 winning %). They went 70-2 in the ACC over that stretch
If you go back to 1987 (pre-ACC), they finished in the top 5 every season and went 152-19-1 over 14 years (.889 winning %). They went to 12 Orange/Fiesta/Sugar Bowls, going 9-3 in those games and 11-3 overall in bowl games.

Yeah it's pretty much the definition of a dynasty. If there was a playoff back then FSU would have been contending for a title just about every year. It'd be cool to hear about how he built the program and interview some of the older players (Dunn, Brooks, etc)

I don't know, I've always been torn on this. The numbers, outside of titles, scream dynasty, but I'm hung up on titles. They were the team of the 90s, being more consistent than Nebraska. I guess they are in the middle of the pack when it comes to dynasties.

Alabama's "dynasty" has now played in the playoff era for 3 years. Apples and oranges.

well let's see who's done that since the 80s
LSU: 2003 and 2007
Florida State: 1993 and 1999
Florida: 2006 and 2008
Nebraska: 1994, 1995, 1997
Miami: 1983, 1987, 1989, 1991
Alabama: 2009, 2011, 2012, 2014
Given FSU's accomplishments outside of NCs during their run, I'd put their dynasty above anyone except Alabama, Miami, and Nebraska. And Nebrska's long-term run wasn't as impressive IMO. Their 3 year run was as impressive as anyone's, however. I think FSU's 14 year streak of top 5 finishes easily puts them in the category of a dynasty
