Just push the bengals and bills games to monday for next week

They both have games scheduled for Sunday, no?

A logistical nightmare added to a packed regular season and post season schedule. I don't see where the NFL could fit this in without pushing back the schedule, which they probably won't do. Just call it 7-3 Bengals and move on.

Yes. Bengals play the ravens. If the bills-bengals game isn’t resumed the bengals win the division regardless of the outcome of the ravens game. Harbaugh will be pissed. If I were a betting man I’d wager that last nights game will be resumed and adjustments will be made to various scheduled games.

Why can’t everything be pushed back? That would make division championships be the week of pro bowl and the pro bowl could be week after super bowl.

would that work?

They’d have to play tomorrow for this to work. I’m pretty sure the new CBA has a days between games played requirement.

Don't know if this was talked about already, but happened across this bit of information and had to do a double take.

Back in 1971, the Bears were playing the Lions when Chuck Hughes collapsed on the field and died shortly thereafter at a hospital...they actually finished the game after he was taken off the field.

quote:

Both teams' doctors and trainers, along with a physician who happened to be attending the game, ran to Hughes to try to save him. An ambulance was called for and arrived to take Hughes to Henry Ford Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:34 pm that afternoon. He was 28 years old. The game was played to its conclusion in front of a now-stunned silent crowd in Tiger Stadium, with the Bears' lead holding

Different circumstances. That game only had a minute or so left and wasn’t nationally televised.

Important to know his heartbeat was restored on the field, not later at hospital. Pretty big deal. As far as oxygenation, you can take care of that with intubation and forced ventilation

I didn’t get an optimistic feeling from the statement just issued by the family. It felt like he’s being kept alive solely by machines which I’d suspect they are assessing brain activity. Prayers to him and his family.

I'm not saying you are wrong, but how did you get this from their statement? All they did was thank the fans, bills, medical staff, etc. They didn't say anything about his condition.

This is my suggestion
There's a 2 week break between conference championship Sunday and Super Bowl. Just move all playoffs back one week, leaving a 1 week between the conference games and SB.
Let Cincy and Buffalo play alone on wildcard weekend.
Certainly TV programming can be flexible for this.

Right?

Statement: “We appreciate the prayers, support, and hard work of the medical staff. Please keep praying”

Reaction: “Oh wow they’re keeping him alive on machines”

agreed and it doesn't disrupt any pre-existing travel schedules with the playoff matchups not even being set yet.

They could also do something special for that Benagls/Bills matchup to raise money for charity. Unprecedented situations sometimes call for unprecedented decisions

They would not play the game until he is out of the medically induced coma.

At that point they may just decide to not play it at all. I doubt the Bills would want to go back to Cincy at this point.

Interesting decision. I wonder what the resolution will be.

It’s natural to over read stuff but no mention of his condition or his fight was initially unsettling for me too.

They likely don’t know a ton but it mentioned everything but him, really, and it just feels weird even though it likely means nothing at all.

ESPN took the game off of the Playoff Machine.. But I think I checked the scenarios and both Buffalo and Cincinnati would play home games at either 2 or 3 spots as of week 17.. Meaning the spots would be swapped for between winner and loser and have no impact on other teams.. I could be wrong so don't kill me..

The Bengals are already division champs after the Ravens loss to Pittsburgh, correct?
