This is one of those things that sounds good that does nothing to solve the actual problem with OOC scheduling.

yes, because they don't like to split the revenue from home gates more equitably and fans will burn out on too many neutral site ATL or Dallas type games. the money comes from somewhere

Well you might not be trying to be a dick, but you're factually incorrect, so there's that.

Don't get so offended. It is a fact.

Hope the system expands and bigger games are played by all schools as it makes it more excitable for the fans. There

I think the Power 5 should only play the Power 5

Virginia tech? This isn't 2008 or something.

Oklahoma the next two years isn't the Oklahoma we have seen in the recent past.

Tulsa 2016? Hawaii I'm 2015? Not seeing this tough out of conference head line games that I am thinking of

There have been A LOT more early season Power 5 OOC matchups the last few years.

I think your opinion is based more on widespread media coverage than reality. A few decades ago major programs like LSU would often play three or more major (BCS) teams out of conference. Now, people practically stand up and applaud if you play a single major school out of conference.

LSU for example (bowls not included, this is regular season)

1974 - Colorado, Texas A&M, Rice (both SWC)
1975 - Texas A&M, Rice, Nebraska
1976 - Oregon State, Rice, Nebraska
1977 - Oregon, Indiana, Rice
1978 - Wake Forest, Indiana, Rice
1979 - Southern Cal, Colorado, Rice

Now the trade off? They were playing around six in conference (SEC) games in the 70s... so the number of BCS opponents played in the regular season has gone up, but the frequency of major matchups from around the country has gone down.

I agree that this solves next to nothing in the real issue of Power 5 teams facing off, but it's at least a move in the right direction.

I guess I'm just glad Ohio State schedules big OOC home/home series once a year. However, I do wish they wouldn't schedule them so far in advance. Miami and VaTech turned into duds as far as hype, but were scheduled when they were among the top. Texas/tOSU was the shite and my absolute favorite series ever(I'm only 27) and USC was also a good series. I believe Cal was even scheduled when they won the Pac10, but that turned into a big LOL.

Maybe a rule to add should be no scheduling any further out than X amount of years. That could help with the fall through of big match ups due to scheduling conflicts as well as an unforeseen downfall of your opponent before you play them. Though, I tend to be of the more rules don't solve anything thought process, so maybe this won't be solved until(if ever) CFB moves into more of a power 4 setup.

What the frick do you want? Wait until the preseason polls and then schedule them? These home and homes are scheduled years in advance and were generally scheduled when the opponent WAS an upper tier team.

Possibly Iowa. It seems Northern Iowa plays either Iowa or Iowa State annually, rotating every other year

I like it.

If it were up to me, all Power 5 Conferences would...

- Play 9 conference games PLUS a title game
- Play no FCS opponents
- Must play at least 2 OOC Power 5 teams, can play 1 Group of Five. Exceptions made for any rivalries that don't want to end.
- Notre Dame joins a conference or fricks off
