Outside of the Masters in 2012, Kuchar really hasn't put himself in real contention to win a major.

Best Majors Finish:
Masters Tournament
T3: 2012
U.S. Open

T6: 2010
The Open Championship
T9: 2012
PGA Championship
T7: 2015

Since 2010:
Masters Tournament
Avg Finish: 17th, 4 Top 10s, 0 MC
U.S. Open
Avg Finish: 20th, 1 Top 10, 0 MC
The Open Championship
Avg Finish: 34th, 1 Top 10, 1 MC
PGA Championship
Avg Finish: 14th, 2 Top 10s, 2 MC, 1 DNP

*Avg Finish doesn't include year where he missed cut. I know it skews the numbers.

Take that info combined with his play in WGC events and it is arguable to say he is the best without a major.

WGC Events since 2010:

Avg Finish 14th, 1 win, 11 top 10s

Matsuyama is the highest ranked player to not have won a major currently.

True, but he also just turned 25. That's really freaking young. He has plenty of time.

Straight up best player is Matsuyama, but I don't think its long before he wins one. What you actually meant when you ask the question, probably Snedeker or Westwood. Now that Sergio has won though, I don't really think there's a guy out there that would make you say "damn how has this guy not won a major?"

Colin Montgomerie. How is that guy only 53?

didn't realize that. Feel like he has been on the tour for awhile.

His crowd Friday was wild. An army of Japanese people was following every shot

Was in contention there.

Shot 68 to finish 4 behind the winner. Never in real contention.

Started the day 9 back. Finished 7 back. Not in real contention.

Westwood and Donald are the only two players who have been number one in the world that have not won a major.

My point is he is a damn good golfer in the Majors... Not may people averaging a top 20 finish in majors over the past 8 years, with 8 top 10s. Not saying he was in "real" contention, but the question is who is the best on tour without a major win. My argument is that Kuch falls in that category.

He's definitely won 4 really tough/awesome tournaments. Fed Ex Cup Playoff, WGC Match Play, the Memorial, and The Players.

I'm not saying he's not a really good player, because he is, but I never really felt like he should have won a major, or really even had that great of a chance. Guys like Sergio, Phil, Monty, and Westwood have had those chances (included those guys because they've been given the "best player without a major" title)

These three are the list. All three getting up in age and chances of them ever winning are slim

I'm not suggesting that he's overdue or anything, just a good candidate for best player that has yet to win a major.

I think he's one of the best, but Lee Westwood has finished in the top 5 for majors 11 freaking times. That's absurd.

I thought he was 53 when I saw him in '97.

Masters Tournament 2nd: 2010, 2016 -- (6 top 10's)
U.S. Open 3rd: 2008, 2011 -- (5 top 10's)
The Open Championship 2nd: 2010 -- (5 top 10's)
PGA Championship 3rd: 2009 -- (2 top 10's)

This is not close, IMO.

In Majors:
11 top 5's, 18 top 10's.
