Sr. or Jr.? Jr was a 1st round pick in football and would have been a top pick in the baseball draft too.

On top of being maybe the best football player in LA history, Ryan Perrilloux was a hell of a basketball and baseball player at East St John.

Let me throw out a name most people haven’t heard of, but if you are from Lafayette, you probably have…
Maurice Leblanc…
“Moe” graduated from Lafayette High around 1964. He was an all-state tailback, all-state basketball player and won state in several track events.
He played sparingly during his LSU career, due to injuries but during his high school days, there was none better in Louisiana.
He’s in his mid-70s now and still competes in Senior Olympic events.

Keith Thibodeaux from Opelousas High School and Louisiana Tech University. Just an infant when he played at Tech in the 1970's, but Dave Nitz the voice of the Bulldogs for the last 50 years considers him the best overall athlete to ever play at Tech.

Keith played football and baseball at Tech and lead the football team to a couple Independence Bowls in the late 70's as the quarterback. He also was an outstanding baseball pitcher for Tech and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 3rd round of the 1980 draft.

Sadly, Keith passed away two years ago. Does anyone here remember him at Opelousas High School in the 1970's. I would imagine he broke many records considering how well he did at Tech.

Don Raymond, life cut short when his car was hit by a drunk driver. I had an older black gentleman from the Lafayette area ask me where I was from, when I said Hahnville he started talking about the best athlete he had ever seen was Don. I went through school with one of his brothers who was also a good athlete but nowhere near the level Don was. Had offers in multiple sports but died during his senior year.

From an old article in a local paper:

In 1968, Don Raymond became the first African American athlete named to the Louisiana Class 2A All-State Football team and was the first African-American to letter in four sports at Hahnville High School.

He was a star receiver on the Tigers’ 1968 state championship team with 36 receptions and 12 touchdowns as a junior.

Raymond also earned All-District and All-State honors in basketball and track and field.
