Best hotels in Chicago for Cubs weekend

Am thinking about booking a hotel room to go watch the cubbies.
Thing is... I'm wanting to go to the first two games of the NLCS (obviously banking on that).
Question... Do you think, if the Cubs finish with the best record in the NL, the will host games 1 and 2 on Oct. 15th and 16th???
Also, if your planning on going regardless isn't it better to book now rather than when the Cubs look more and more likely like they will end up there?
What are some good hotels to look into??

What's your budget? I would recommend the embassy suites on State st. It's like 3 blocks south of the Chicago L stop, and like 3 or so blocks west of Michigan ave. it's a good location and the rooms are relatively inexpensive by downtown Chicago standards
ETA I believe it's 4 or 5 stops on the Red line from Wrigley

Whatever your favorite chain is....all are close to the red line which is a 15 minute ride at most to Wrigley.
My personal favorite is the Hotel Burnham, with The Virgin Hotelmsecond

I like the Palmer House Hilton which is in the Loop and walking distance to a lot of good places. There are hotels closer to wrigleyville if you want to stay closer to that neighborhood.

don't stay in wrigleyville. stay in loop or on/off michigan avenue

Chicago is a great Hotwire city - unless you're a platinum at a particular chain you'd be better off getting a 4.5 star hotel in a hot area. I'm kind of a slave to my SPG points now, but in the past I've gotten Trump, Sofitel, W, Conrad (now a boutique by some other SPG name/concept) and a few others. All were fantastic deals. Strongly encourage it.

You can book hotel rooms for all rounds now then just cancel like a week before.

I have done the Hot Wire thing before last minute and stayed at some great places. What worries me is that with the Cubs in an NLCS game 1 or 2 on a Saturday or Sunday that most hotels are gonna be sold out.
I will probably go ahead and book early and cancel if need be like the last two said.

Get a hotel in River North. You can easily walk to The Loop, if need be, but there's more "entertainment" (i.e. restaurants, shopping, bars, clubs/lounges) north of the river.
Whether you're closer to a Brown Line or Red Line station in River North, you can easily get to Wrigleyville. Red Line to Addison will be direct. Otherwise, you take a Brown Line to Fullerton or Belmont and transfer on a Red Line to Addison. Both super easy.
