Why is this even a thread?

If you want to ask non PED associated, that would be better.

Is Bob Hamelin still eligible?

But seriously, Bonds is the correct answer.

Was one of my favorite players as a kid, not HOF worthy though

Eta: how in the hell was he a inaugural member of the SEC legends when he didn't even play in the SEC. He played for Arkansas before they were in the SEC.

Other than the steroid guys... I was a big fan of the Pirates and Dave Parker as a kid. Supposedly he never got a lot of votes due to his drug history. But he is a former MVP, two time batting champ, 7 time all star and 3 time gold glove and silver slugger. Plus he has 2 world series rings.

Bonds, no question. He's an all-time great..

Barry Bonds. Greatest home run hitter the game has ever seen. Probably the best 5 tool player of this generation. Multiple Gold Gloves, over 500 SB, .298 career hitter, Holds the 3 highest spots on walks in a single season, 2 highest OBP single seasons......I could go on for days.

Really???? There have been a lot of great HR hitters in MLB...He has the so-called record[TAINTED]. But you are young.. as for being a pure HR hitter Micky Mantle runs circles around BB... Big Mac was a BETTER HR hitter than Bonds.............

Did he hit the ball over the fence or not? Unless he used something like a corked bat, I don't see "tainted" anywhere. Unless you think that any person who ever broke any rule should never be allowed into the HOF?

Mantle didn't care of himself, and thus didn't perform as well. Longevity is a piece of the game.

Most pure swing I have ever seen though is Griffey Jr. Shame he couldn't stay healthy.

How can you always bash Bonds record and then say Big Mac was a better HR hitter than Bonds?

When:
Bonds-762
McGwire- 583

Top 1 or 2, but yea, not sure why this thread was even started, there really is nothing to debate.

In fairness, McGwire hit more per season, that has to count for at least a little something.

Bonds was able to stay healthier and play 6 extra years. That obviously also counts for something.

Fair enough.

Damn I feel old now seeing McGwire retired after the 2001 season. Thought he played longer than that.
